Overview:

The primary responsibilities of this position are to assist the Trade Compliance Manager in the

development, implementation and maintenance of both import and export compliance programs and GTS.

Strong emphasis on supporting regulatory Import/Export compliance and interfacing with Groups, Divisions

and employees at all levels of the organization to include training, developing and advising upper

management and staff.

The Trade Compliance Specialist is a subject matter expert in one or more specific areas of the law such

as HTS Classification, Customs Valuation, Country of Origin Determination, Broker Management, etc.

The Trade Compliance Specialist Acts as a liaison between end-users, IT, and other cross functional teams

and professionals in the analysis, design, configuration, testing and maintenance of systems to ensure

optimal operational performance including but not limited to GTS.

How Youll Make an impact:

- Supports projects focused on improving import/export operations and processes in the

EMEA/APAC/AMS/GR China region, coordinates with Customer Service and Logistics to troubleshoot

problem orders/shipments

- Maintains and assists with the creation and implementation of export and import compliance

procedures and work instructions

- Responsible for broker compliance verification via auditing import/export transactions and files
- Performs Customs compliance audits and reports audit results
- Exercises judgement with latitude to propose and implement improvements in the Trade Compliance

policies

- Subject matter expert in one or multiple areas of the law such as HTS, Origin, Valuation, Transfer Price,

Free Trade Agreements, Duty Drawback, Free Trade Zones

- Assigns HTS classifications, Dual use classifications, requests Other Government Agency (OGA)

import product information/data necessary for importation and assists in the country-of-origin





determination for manufactured and purchased products imported and exported

- Administers import/export recordkeeping requirements
- Performs Free Trade Agreement Analysis
- Performs SAP Global Trade Services (GTS) Sanctioned Party Listing (SPL) screening
- Supports the coordination of import/export shipments with the Logistics and Compliance departments
- Sets up restrictions in SAP GTS for import/export compliance concerns, and manages shipments with

export restrictions, manages Global Trade Services (GTS) module of SAP

- Provides necessary import/export compliance training to operational personnel
- Responsible for analyzing and interpreting export and import regulations and provides risks

assessments and advice related to business activities

- Develop business processes to address compliance risks
- Supports the Global Trade Compliance and Global Logistics organization on the implementation of

Global Trade Automation Systems

- Acts as a liaison between end-users, IT and other cross functional teams and professionals in the

analysis, design, configuration, testing and maintenance of systems to ensure optimal operational

performance

- Works on projects and tasks that are local and regional in scope and impact with medium to significant

complexity. Supports projects focused on improving business operations and processes

- Develop presentations and effectively communicate results with recommended action plans to

management





- Uses data analysis/modeling to create new reports, troubleshoots and modify existing reports including

Target KPIs, cost savings opportunities, etc.

- Partners on initiatives to support the creation of recent reports, metrics and dashboards based on

business needs, troubleshoots, reports on and tests new system/tool functionality

- Supports internal audit procedures
- Provides recommendations to trade compliance management and implements improvements
- Identifies and documents business risks
- Maintains awareness of industry and market trends through ongoing research

What You Bring:

- Bachelors degree or equivalent in International Business, Business Administration, Business

Information or related discipline

- Minimum 7 years of experience in a similar position (data management, dynamic Global Trade),

ideally experienced working in bio-pharma, medical or life science related companies

- Knowledge of trade compliance regulations in more than one country
- Advanced quantitative skills with proficiency in data analysis (SAP/MS Access) modeling (MS Excel)

and presenting (MS PowerPoint), advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and tools such as PowerBI

- Expert knowledgeable about how to qualify items under various Free Trade agreements, Customs

Reconciliation & Duty Reductions Program

- Skill in creating statistical reporting, including skill in composing logical, detailed and analytical

reports, ability to create presentations and present to technical and non-technical audiences.

- Advanced skills in product classification - Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), Dual-Use classification

(ECN)

- Demonstrated experience in working in cross functional teams driving, developing and implementing

Customs related procedures and work instructions

- Proficient in multi-lingual is preferred
