Role & responsibilities

The Test Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and execution of automated and manual tests across the Shakti DB core engine, tools. The role is predominantly automation-focused, with manual and exploratory testing where automation coverage is not feasible.

Test Automation and Execution

Design, develop, and maintain automated test cases for backend services, APIs, and the Management Console UI.

Extend the existing automation framework and contribute reusable components and utilities.

Write regression, integration, and end-to-end test suites; integrate them with the CI/CD pipeline.

Triage failures, diagnose root-causes, and work with developers on resolution.

Manual and Exploratory Testing

Perform functional, exploratory, and usability testing for features that require manual validation.

Execute scenarios for edge cases, error conditions, upgrade flows, and cross-browser/OS compatibility.

Produce clear, reproducible defect reports with logs, steps, and environment detail.

Test Planning and Coverage

Review requirements, design documents, and user stories to derive test cases and coverage maps.

Maintain test cases, test data, and setting configurations in the test management system.

Contribute to release readiness reviews and sign-off checklists.

Database-Specific Testing

Execute SQL-based functional and regression tests, including PostgreSQL compatibility suites.

Validate distributed behaviours replication,



failover, backup/restore, upgrade, and shard operations.

Support performance and load test execution using standard benchmarks.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

3–6 years of software QA experience with a strong automation focus.

Hands-on experience with at least one web UI automation framework — Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium.

Experience with REST API automation (Postman, Rest Assured, Super test, or equivalent).

Proficiency in at least one of Go, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Python for writing test code.

Working knowledge of SQL and at least one RDBMS, preferably PostgreSQL.

Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and Linux environments.

Solid understanding of the software QA lifecycle, defect management, and test case design techniques.

Experience with bug tracking and test management tools (JIRA, TestRail, Zephyr, or equivalent).

Good to Have

Experience testing enterprise products — databases, middleware, or data platform software.

Exposure to PostgreSQL administration, replication, or internals.

Familiarity with containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes) for test execution.

Experience with performance or load testing tools (JMeter, k6, pgbench, sys bench).

Exposure to security testing or chaos/fault injection testing.
