Role & responsibilities

CBT Welding inspector with experience in offshore structure fabrication in onshore yard

Job Title: CBT Welding Inspector Third Party Inspection (TPI)

Location: Oman (Onshore Fabrication Yard Offshore Structures)

Industry: Oil & Gas / Offshore / Third Party Inspection

Job Summary

The CBT Welding Inspector (TPI) will act as an independent third-party representative to ensure that all welding and fabrication activities for offshore structures are executed in full compliance with client specifications, international standards, and project quality requirements. The role involves unbiased inspection, verification, and reporting to the client.

Key Responsibilities

1. NDT Coordination
2. Witness and validate NDT activities such as RT, UT, MT, and PT.
3. Review NDT reports and ensure acceptance criteria compliance.
4. Documentation & Reporting
5. Review and endorse QA/QC documentation including:
6. Welding procedures (WPS/PQR)
7. Inspection reports
8. Material traceability records
9. Prepare daily/weekly inspection reports and submit to client/TPI agency.
10. Identify and report non-conformances (NCRs) and follow up on corrective actions.
11. Compliance & Standards
12. Ensure adherence to: AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, ISO standards,



Client specifications and project requirements
13. Verify material identification and traceability.
14. Stakeholder Coordination
15. Interface with contractor QA/QC, client representatives, and project team.
16. Provide technical clarification and inspection feedback.

Required Qualifications & Certifications

1. Diploma / Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
2. CSWIP 3.1 / AWS-CWI or equivalent (Mandatory).
3. CBT Certification (as per client/project requirements).
4. Knowledge of international codes and offshore fabrication standards.

Technical Skills

1. Proficiency in welding processes: SMAW, GTAW, FCAW, SAW.
2. Strong understanding of fit-up tolerances and structural fabrication.
3. Ability to read fabrication drawings, GA drawings, and weld maps.
4. Knowledge of QA/QC procedures and documentation systems.

Soft Skills

1. High integrity and impartiality (critical for TPI role).
2. Robust reporting and documentation skills.
3. Effective communication with multi-disciplinary teams.

Additional Requirements

1. Willing to work in onshore yard environments.
2. Ability to work under strict timelines and quality requirements.
3. Immediate availability preferred.
