Role Overview
Nexelon Chem Pvt Ltd is seeking an organized and meticulous Assistant Manager - Plant Store to oversee store operations, warehouse management, and inventory control at our Khambhat chemical manufacturing plant.
The Plant Store Manager will be responsible for end-to-end materials management, including the receipt, storage, preservation, and issuance of engineering spares (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation), raw materials, packing materials, and project goods. The objective is to ensure seamless material availability for plant operations while maintaining accurate digital records and high safety standards in storage.
Key Responsibilities
- Store Operations & Management: Supervise day-to-day warehouse and store operations. Ensure proper layout design, optimal space utilization, and systematic material storage using 5S principles.
- Inventory Control & Accuracy: Maintain 100% inventory accuracy through regular cycle counts, perpetual inventory verification, and annual stock audits. Reconcile physical stock with the ERP system.
- Receipt & Inspection: Oversee the unloading, verification, and inspection of incoming materials against Purchase Orders (PO), delivery challenges, and invoices. Coordinate with the Quality Assurance/Engineering team for technical inspections.
- Material Issuance: Establish and enforce strict material issuance protocols based on authorized Material Requisitions (MR). Ensure the FIFO (First-In, First-Out) method is applied where applicable.
- ERP & Documentation:
Accurately update and maintain all store transactions (Goods Receipt Note/GRN, material issue, return to store, scrap disposal) in the companys ERP system (e.g., SAP / Oracle).
- Spares & Chemical Preservation: Ensure specific and safe storage conditions for specialized chemical engineering equipment, instruments, hazardous materials, and general spares to prevent deterioration or rust.
- Scrap & Waste Management: Manage the systematic collection, categorization, and disposal of plant scrap, hazardous waste, and obsolete inventory in compliance with regulatory norms.
- Safety & Compliance: Implement rigorous warehouse safety measures. Ensure appropriate material handling equipment (MHE) like forklifts and stackers are operated safely, and that the store team utilizes proper PPE.
Preferred candidate profile
- Education:
- Bachelors degree (B.Sc or B.E./ B.Tech) Materials Management, Supply Chain Management, or Logistics from a recognized university.
- Preferred: MBA / Post Graduate Diploma/Degree in Materials Management, Supply Chain Management, or Logistics.
- Experience: 10-15 years of experience in store/warehouse management within a manufacturing facility, ideally in a Chemical, Petrochemical, Pharmaceutical, or heavy engineering plant.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP-MM module is highly preferred) and MS Office (Excel, Word).
- Thorough understanding of inventory management techniques (ABC analysis, VED analysis, safety stock levels, and Lead Time management).
- Knowledge of chemical compatibility standards and hazardous material handling rules.
- Soft Skills: Solid organizational skills, eye for detail, team management capabilities, and effective communication in Hindi, Gujarati, and English.
