Role Description The Assistant Manager role is a full-time, on-site position based in Chennai within the Department of Computer Applications at Alpha Arts and Science College.
The Assistant
Manager will support departmental administration, coordinate academic and co-curricular activities, and assist in implementing institutional policies and procedures.
Responsibilities include scheduling classes and events, maintaining records, liaising with faculty,
students, and administrative offices, and supporting workshops, seminars, and industry engagement initiatives. The role also involves contributing to student support and placement activities, monitoring departmental operations for compliance with institutional standards, and assisting in continuous improvement efforts related to academic quality and student experience.
Qualifications Robust administrative and organizational skills, with experience in managing schedules, records, and departmental operations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for coordinating with faculty, students, and external partners.
Basic understanding of academic processes, curriculum coordination, and quality assurance in an educational institution.
Proficiency with office productivity tools (word processing, spreadsheets, presentations) and comfort with computer-based systems.
Ability to plan and support events such as workshops, seminars, and training programs.
Problem-solving mindset, attention to detail, and capability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Bachelor’s degree in Management, Administration, Computer Applications, or a related field; a postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
Prior experience in academic administration or educational institutions is preferred.
