About the Role

QDEX Consulting is looking for an AI Engineer to build AI-powered developer productivity solutions embedded directly inside an enterprise-grade IDE.

This role focuses on creating an AI-assisted coding experience that helps developers write, refine, and modernize code using intelligent context from existing codebases. You will work on production-ready AI systems, not demos or research prototypes.

What You'll Be Building

- An AI-powered IDE plugin that assists developers in writing and refining code in proprietary and enterprise programming languages
- Intelligent context-aware code generation, combining:
- Existing project code
- Language-specific patterns
- User intent and queries
- Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines to:
- Index large codebases
- Retrieve the most relevant code snippets

- Provide precise context to LLMs before code generation
- AI workflows that:
- Improve and refactor existing code
- Ensure generated code aligns with established patterns and standards

- Deep IDE integrations that feel native, fast, and reliable for developers

Key Responsibilities

- Design and implement AI-driven code intelligence inside an IDE
- Build and optimize RAG-based systems for source-code understanding
- Integrate LLMs into developer workflows with strong guardrails





- Work closely with engineering and product teams to ship production-quality features
- Balance AI accuracy, performance, and developer experience
- Own AI design decisions end-to-end, from architecture to delivery

Required Skills & Experience

Core Technical Skills

- Strong proficiency in C# and/or C++, with hands-on experience in:
- IDE plugin development

- Language tooling or compiler-related systems
- Code parsing and analysis
- Solid experience with Python, especially for:
- AI/ML workflows
- LLM integrations
- Retrieval and orchestration logic

AI & Platform Experience

- Hands-on experience with LLM-based systems
- Strong understanding of:
- RAG architectures
- Embeddings and semantic search

- Context management and prompt design
- Experience integrating AI into production systems, not just prototypes
- Familiarity with cloud-native architectures (GCP preferred)

Nice to Have

- Experience working with legacy or proprietary programming languages
- Prior experience building IDE extensions (VS Code, IntelliJ, Eclipse, or custom IDEs)
- Knowledge of ASTs, language servers, or compiler pipelines

- Exposure to enterprise developer platforms
