Role Description The Article Trainee – Direct and Indirect Tax role is a full-time, on-site position based in Chennai. The trainee will support the tax team in preparing and reviewing working papers, tax computations, and documentation for direct and indirect tax matters, including GST and income tax. Day-to-day responsibilities include assisting with tax returns and filings, supporting assessments and audits, conducting research on tax laws and regulations,
and helping draft technical notes and client communication.
The role also involves coordinating with internal teams to gather data, maintaining organized records, and ensuring adherence to compliance timelines and firm methodologies. Under the guidance of senior professionals, the trainee will gain practical exposure to client engagements and learn to apply tax concepts in real-world scenarios. Qualifications
Strong foundation in accounting and taxation principles, with interest in both direct tax and indirect tax (including GST).
Ability to conduct tax and regulatory research, analyze provisions, and prepare clear technical notes and summaries.
Proficiency in MS Excel and other basic office tools for working papers, reconciliations, and data analysis.
Good written and verbal communication skills for drafting emails, reports, and client correspondence.
Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks within tight deadlines.
Professional integrity, a learning mindset, and willingness to work in a structured, process-driven environment.
Pursuing or completed CA articleship eligibility as per ICAI norms; relevant coursework or internships in tax will be an advantage.
Interest in building a career in tax and advisory services; prior exposure to a CA firm or financial services environment is beneficial.
