Roles & Responsibilities;

- Design and evolve our distributed database architecture with Apache Cassandra and PostgreSQL as core data platforms.

- Define data models optimised for high-volume, low-latency, distributed workloads.

- Own SQL/NoSQL architecture for relational data, indexing strategy, migrations, query performance, and operational reliability.

- Build scalable, resilient, and highly available database infrastructure.

- Drive best practices around Cassandra partitioning, replication, consistency, compaction, tombstone management, and performance tuning.

- Drive best practices around PostgreSQL schema design, indexing, query optimisation, transactions, replication, backup/restore, and migrations.

- Collaborate closely with backend engineers, DevOps, security, and product teams.

- Establish monitoring, backup, disaster recovery, data migration, and operational standards.

- Evaluate new technologies and guide strategic database decisions as the platform scales.

What we are looking for;

- 5+ years of experience of designing and operating large-scale production database systems.





- Deep expertise of Cassandra/Postgres in production environments.

- Strong PostgreSQL expertise for relational and transactional workloads, including schema design, indexing, query optimisation, migrations, replication, backup/restore, and performance tuning.

- Strong understanding of distributed systems, replication, consistency models, fault tolerance, and high availability.

- Experience with Cassandra data modelling for read-heavy and write-heavy workloads.

- Experience designing polyglot persistence systems where Cassandra handles distributed high-volume workloads and PostgreSQL handles relational or transactional data.

- Knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud platforms.

- Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.

- Robust scripting or programming skills in SQL, CQL, Node.js/TypeScript, Python, Bash, or similar.

- Excellent communication skills and the ability to mentor engineering teams.

Nice to Have

- Experience with Kafka or event-driven architectures.
