Volume $26.92M Liquidity $8.28M Avg Spread — Max Spread — 2026 LA Mayor: the Bass vs. Raman runoff, priced across Polymarket and Kalshi Analysis written July 1, 2026 odds & tables update live The Los Angeles mayor race is one of the most-searched prediction-market questions of the summer — and one of the most misunderstood, because the June primary already happened and did not end the race. Under LA’s nonpartisan top-two rules, no candidate cleared 50%, so it is now a November 3 runoff between incumbent Karen Bass and city councilmember Nithya Raman.
Here is where the live odds stand, how closely the two platforms agree, and why the probability is genuinely hard. Where it stands. June 2 primary: Bass first (~34%), Raman second (~29%), Spencer Pratt (the Republican reality-TV wildfire critic) third and eliminated — after a week of slow, Democratic-leaning mail ballots flipped second place from Pratt to Raman.
The runoff is Bass vs. Raman on November 3, 2026.
Karen
Bass 63% Nithya Raman 38% The June 2 primary field. Bass and Raman advanced to the November 3 runoff; the rest are eliminated. The live runoff odds Karen Bass leads — 63% on Polymarket, 63% on Kalshi (within a few points), over Nithya Raman (38%).
The board: Candidate Polymarket Kalshi Karen Bass 63% 63% Nithya Raman 38% 38% Live market-implied probability to win the 2026 LA mayoral runoff — as of July 30, 2026.
The story is agreement: two independent crowds land within a few points on a wounded incumbent holding a real-but-not-secure lead.
No obvious mispricing to fade — just a shared read that Bass is favored and the race is genuinely live. Why the probability is genuinely hard Bass is a weak favorite, for a structural reason, not a sentimental one.
She was badly damaged by her 2025 wildfire response — roughly 56% unfavorable in a March LA Times poll — and drew only ~34% as an incumbent. But the anti-Bass vote is split across the spectrum and cannot easily consolidate: Raman is a Democratic Socialist, and the primary’s large right-leaning anti-Bass bloc (Pratt’s Republicans and independents) is unlikely to swing behind a socialist in November. So a broadly-disliked incumbent stays favored because her challenger has a ceiling.
Read a Bass lead as Raman’s consolidation problem, not Bass’s popularity. How the two platforms modeled the same race This is where Polymarket and Kalshi diverge in structure. Polymarket lists a clean per-candidate winner market (“Will Karen Bass win?”) inside one multi-candidate event.
Kalshi has the same forward market (“Who will win Los Angeles Mayor?”) — but also carved the race into dozens of granular contracts: first-round margins, exact finishing order, each candidate’s vote-percentage band, turnout thresholds, even “will AP call it before 10am.” Almost all of those are about the June primary and are now settled or moot. Search “LA mayor odds” and you can easily land on one of them — that is history. For the live November question, the two winner markets are what matter, and they agree.
