Job Title

Data Protection Officer (DPO)

Role Summary

We are seeking a Data Protection Officer (DPO)



responsible for overseeing compliance with applicable data protection laws, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. The DPO will act as the central point of accountability for data privacy governance, risk management, and regulatory engagement.

Key Responsibilities

1. Compliance & Governance

- Ensure organizational compliance with DPDP and other applicable privacy regulations
- Develop, implement, and maintain data protection policies and procedures
- Monitor adherence across business units

2. Data Lifecycle Management

- Maintain data inventory and data flow mapping
- Ensure purpose limitation, data minimization, and retention policies are enforced
- Oversee secure storage and deletion practices

3. Consent & User Rights Management

- Implement and monitor consent collection mechanisms
- Oversee handling of data principal requests:
- Access
- Correction
- Erasure
- Ensure requests are fulfilled within regulatory timelines

4. Risk Assessment & Audits

- Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs)
- Identify privacy risks and recommend mitigation strategies
- Lead internal and external audits

5. Incident & Breach Management

- Establish breach detection and response processes




- Ensure timely reporting to regulators and affected individuals
- Maintain incident logs and post-incident reviews

6. Vendor & Third-Party Oversight

- Evaluate and onboard vendors from a data protection perspective
- Ensure contracts include required data protection clauses
- Monitor third-party compliance

7. Training & Awareness

- Conduct employee training programs on data privacy
- Build a privacy-first culture across the organization

8. Regulatory & Stakeholder Interface

- Act as point of contact for regulators and data principals
- Support legal and compliance teams in regulatory matters

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Information Security, IT, or related field
- 5–12 years of experience in data protection, compliance, or information security
- Robust understanding of:
- - DPDP Act (India)
- Global frameworks (e.g., General Data Protection Regulation is a plus)

- Experience with audits, risk management, and compliance programs

Skills & Competencies

- Strong knowledge of data protection principles and frameworks
- Risk assessment and analytical thinking
- Stakeholder management and communication skills
- Familiarity with privacy tools and compliance dashboards
- Ability to translate legal requirements into business processes

Preferred Certifications

- CIPP / CIPM (IAPP)
- ISO 27701 / ISO 27001 knowledge
- Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
