Job Roles & Responsibilities

- Own and scale the core backend infrastructure behind Theta's data platform, including cloud compute, distributed workers, platform reliability, and performance under real production load.
- Build model harnesses, evaluation systems, reinforcement-learning environments, agent workflows, and data pipelines at the frontier of AI systems engineering.
- Create internal tools and expert-facing workflows that produce high-fidelity training environments efficiently and consistently.
- Translate complex real-world software workflows into reproducible tasks and environments used to train advanced agents.
- Work directly with the founders across engineering, product, and operations to set priorities, make architectural decisions, and ship with minimal oversight.

Ideal Candidate Profile

- Three to seven years of software engineering experience, with up to eight considered for an exceptional hands-on profile.
- Strong backend and infrastructure depth across Python, AWS or GCP, distributed systems, cloud compute, worker optimisation, and scaling platforms under real load.
- Hands-on experience building systems around modern models, such as production agents, harnesses, evals, inference or serving infrastructure, post-training systems, reinforcement-learning environments, or ML platforms.
- A meaningful startup or zero-to-one signal,



such as founding-engineer scope, early-team ownership, or delivery inside a rigorous engineering startup.
- High autonomy, scrappiness, sound computer-science fundamentals, and the judgment to ship in ambiguous environments without hand-holding.
- IIT, BITS, IIIT Hyderabad, top-NIT, Olympiad, or competitive-programming pedigree is a practical booster, but only when paired with strong work and systems evidence.

Hiring Process

- Flexiple begins with an interview and profile review focused on communication, motivation, startup readiness, and evidence of backend and AI-systems ownership.
- Theta's technical process will assess infrastructure depth, system design, agent or ML-platform experience, and the ability to reason through research-grade engineering problems.
- A final founder conversation will test autonomy, product judgment, operating style, and alignment with an early core-team role.
