Reports To: Production Supervisor / Tool Room Manager
Job Summary
The CNC Turning Operator is responsible for operating CNC turning machines to manufacture precision components according to engineering drawings and quality standards. The operator is responsible for machine setup (if required), loading and unloading materials, monitoring machining operations, inspecting finished parts, and maintaining a safe and organized work workplace.
Key Responsibilities
Operate CNC turning machines as per production schedules.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, process sheets, and work instructions.
Load raw materials and unload finished components.
Set and adjust cutting tools, tool offsets, and work offsets as required.
Monitor machine operations and make minor parameter adjustments to maintain quality.
Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections using measuring instruments.
Ensure components meet dimensional and quality requirements.
Replace worn tools and report tooling issues to the supervisor.
Maintain production records and inspection reports.
Perform routine machine cleaning and basic preventive maintenance.
Follow 5S, safety, and company quality procedures.
Report machine breakdowns, quality issues, or abnormal conditions immediately.
Minimize material waste and maximize machine utilization.
Required Skills
Knowledge of CNC turning machine operation.
Ability to read engineering drawings and understand GD&T; basics.
Familiarity with CNC controls such as Fanuc, Siemens, or Mitsubishi.
Proficient in using measuring instruments, including:
Vernier Caliper
Micrometer (Outside/Inside)
Bore Gauge
Dial Indicator
Height Gauge
Thread Gauges
Basic understanding of cutting tools, inserts, feeds, and speeds.
Positive problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to work independently and in a team.
Qualifications
ITI / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Certification in CNC Machine Operation is an added advantage.
Experience
2–5 years of CNC turning experience.
Working Conditions
Work in a manufacturing/shop-floor setting.
Willingness to work in rotational shifts and overtime when required.
Follow all safety regulations and use the prescribed Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Production output achieved as per plan.
First-pass yield (FPY).
Rejection and rework percentage.
Machine utilization.
On-time completion of production orders.
Compliance with safety and quality standards.
5S and housekeeping adherence.
