About The Moment

The Moment is a global culture publication, shaped in India and written for readers around the world. We tell stories about the ideas, people and cultural shifts defining how we live today, with a particular interest in the connections between India and the wider world.

About the Role

We are looking for a curious and culturally engaged Associate Editor to work with The Moment’s editorial team. The contributing editor will primarily write and develop original stories for The Moment, while also working closely with the editorial team to refine ideas, strengthen narratives and shape pieces from pitch to publication.

The ideal candidate reads widely, writes with clarity and understands how stories emerging from India can connect with readers around the world. They should be equally comfortable reporting a feature, writing an essay, interviewing cultural figures and identifying the larger idea behind a trend.

Key Responsibilities

- Write essays, interviews, profiles and commentary pieces for The Moment.
- Contribute ideas for recurring editorial formats, thematic series and special projects.
- Collaborate with the editorial, design and growth teams on headlines, story packaging and social-media adaptations.




- Participate in editorial discussions around upcoming stories, cultural developments and the evolving voice of The Moment.

Requirements

- At least 3–5 years of professional writing or editorial experience, preferably within magazines, digital publications, newspapers or cultural platforms.
- A minimum of 2–3 years of experience writing features, essays, profiles or reported stories.
- Familiarity with contemporary cultural conversations in India and internationally.
- An understanding of how millennial and Gen Z audiences discover, read and engage with editorial content.
- Comfort working in a collaborative and fast-moving media startup.
