Key Responsibilities & Duties
Comprehensive Examinations: Conducting vision tests (acuity, field of vision, color, depth perception) to detect vision problems and eye diseases like glaucoma or cataracts.
Diagnosis & Treatment: Identifying sight defects (nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism) and treating eye diseases or injuries.
Prescription: Writing prescriptions for eyeglasses, contact lenses, and ocular medications.
Patient Education: Advising patients on proper eye hygiene, contact lens care, and nutrition for ocular health.
Referrals: Referring patients to ophthalmologists for surgical intervention or specialized care.
Clinical Duties: Maintaining accurate medical records, managing patient flow, and often participating in, or supervising, staff in retail or clinical settings.
