The Blast Resistant Design & Simulation Engineer for the analysis, design, and evaluation of structures subjected to blast loads. The role involves performing advanced numerical simulations, developing blast-resistant structural systems, and ensuring compliance with international standards.
Key Responsibilities
Perform blast load calculations (TNT equivalency, scaled distance, reflected pressure, impulse).
Conduct blast simulations using software such as:
ANSYS Autodyn
LS-DYNA
ABAQUS
SAP2000 / ETABS (for structural response checks)
Design blast-resistant:
Reinforced concrete structures
Steel structures
UG bunkers and tunnels
Ammunition storage facilities
Develop Single degree of freedom (SDOF) models for energetic response analysis.
Evaluate structural performance based on:
Ductility ratios
Support rotation
Prepare Detailed engineering reports and technical documentation.
Review and interpret project specifications related to explosion loads.
Ensure compliance with standards such as:
UFC 3-340-02
TM manual
IATG guidelines
ASCE blast provisions
Participate in design reviews and client meetings.
