We are looking for a creative, detail-driven chef to lead menu innovation and recipe development, helping shape the food and beverage identity of our cafe subsidiary.
The Role
The Chef will develop new dishes, drinks, and seasonal menus while ensuring everything we serve is consistent, cost-effective, and scalable for daily café operations.
Responsibilities :
• Design and test new menu items (food and beverage), from concept to final recipe
• Standardize recipes with accurate measurements, plating guides, and prep instructions for consistency across shifts
• Source and evaluate ingredients, including seasonal and local options
• Calculate food costs and portion sizes to keep current items profitable
• Run tasting sessions and incorporate feedback from staff and customers
• Ensure new items meet food safety standards and can be executed efficiently in a café-paced kitchen
• Train kitchen staff on new recipes and techniques
• Stay current on food trends and adapt them to the cafe’s style and audience
• Collaborate with ownership/management on seasonal menu rotations and specials
Qualifications :
• 5+ years of professional kitchen experience, with prior R&D;, sous chef, or head chef experience preferred
• Education: Diploma or degree in Culinary Arts, Hospitality Management, or Food Science (Bachelor’s preferred); certification from a recognized culinary institute is a strong plus
• Strong understanding of flavor pairing, plating, and menu design
• Experience with recipe costing and portion control
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced café setting (not just fine dining)
• Food safety certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Excellent organization and communication skills
• Passion for experimentation balanced with practicality — dishes need to work for volume, speed, and cost
Nice to Have :
• Experience with coffee/beverage program development
• Background in baking or pastry
• Previously worked with Clean/ Minimally processed ingredients
