Job Description: A Diploma Engineer Trainee (DET) in Metallurgy for a steel manufacturing company supports production, quality control, and laboratory testing to ensure steel products meet standards. Key responsibilities include analyzing chemical compositions, conducting destructive/non-destructive tests, optimizing furnace processes (DRI/EAF), and documenting production data. Key Responsibilities & Duties

- Quality Control & Testing: Conducting lab-based analysis of samples using destructive and non-destructive techniques to test metal properties, composition, and performance.
- Process Optimization: Assisting in monitoring production processes such as DRI (Direct Reduced Iron) kilns, Electric Arc Furnaces (EAF), and rolling mills to improve efficiency.
- Technical Documentation: Preparing technical reports, maintaining quality records, and analyzing data to investigate production problems.
- Failure Analysis: Investigating material failure, corrosion, and fatigue to solve quality issues.
- Safety Adherence: Ensuring compliance with all safety protocols, environmental regulations, and ISO standards on the plant floor.





Required Qualifications & Skills

- Education: Diploma in Metallurgical Engineering or Material Science from a recognized polytechnic.
- Experience: Fresher to 1 year of experience, generally (0–2 years).
- Technical Skills: Understanding of steelmaking, material properties, heat treatment, and basic knowledge of metallurgical laboratory equipment.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical skills, willingness to work in shifts, and ability to work in a team.

Typical Working Environment
DETs often work in a quick-paced environment involving both laboratory testing and hands-on, on-floor supervision in steel plant production areas, including, but not limited to, steel melting shops and rolling mills.
