Job Description:

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing software solutions. You will work with a team of engineers to build and maintain high-quality software products. Your responsibilities include:

- Design and deliver scalable and fault tolerant enterprise platforms, services and applications that meet exacting service level and operational requirements.
- Participate in small agile teams developing and delivering enterprise solutions serving multiple lines of business, products, markets, and geographies.
- Develop RESTful services and customer facing web applications.
- Demonstrates deep expertise in technical design and software development in multiple programming languages, frameworks and data stores.
- Engage with peers across the organization on integrations between the platform and other Scholastic enterprise services such as product data, order management, identity and analytics.
- Assist in acceptance testing, load testing, troubleshooting, and performance tuning as required.
- Ensure that development efforts exemplify Scholastic’s engineering and quality best practices.




- Demonstrates deep expertise in technical design and in a core programming language
- Partitions requirements into actionable, tightly scoped work items that solve for both functional and non-functional aspects
- Articulates and recommends a range of technical solutions for a given set of requirements that balance tactical and strategic objectives

Experience :

- Experience designing, developing, testing, deploying, and scaling web services and applications.
- Deep expertise in service oriented architectures and RESTful APIs.
- Expert level knowledge of the contemporary Java ecosystem, tooling, and best practices.
- Experience implementing solutions using Document DBs (e.g. Mongo) as well as relational DBs. data persistence and distribution strategies and implementations.
- Proficiency with data persistence layers including relational DBS and NoSQL DBs (e.g. Mongo) as well as persistence frameworks such as Hibernate, JPA and Spring Data.
- Expertise in Spring Boot, Spring MVC and Spring Security is preferred.
