Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Draughtsman with expertise in preparing Block Lifting Plans, Turning Plans, Erection Drawings, and Material Handling Drawings for shipbuilding projects. The candidate will be responsible for developing detailed lifting and turning arrangements for ship blocks, ensuring protected handling, transportation, rotation, and erection of large hull structures during ship construction activities. Shipbuilding relies heavily on block construction, lifting, turnover, and erection planning using CAD-based production drawings.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare Block Lifting Plans, Turning/Rotation Plans, and Erection Drawings for shipbuilding projects.
- Develop lifting point layouts, sling arrangements, spreader beam arrangements, and center of gravity (COG) calculations.
- Prepare transportation and load-out drawings for movement of ship blocks within the yard.
- Coordinate with Hull Production, Planning, Structural Design, and Heavy Lift teams to ensure safe execution of lifting operations.
- Generate detailed fabrication and assembly drawings using AutoCAD, AVEVA Marine, Tribon, Cadmatic, or equivalent shipbuilding software.




- Review structural details to identify lifting constraints and recommend suitable lifting arrangements.
- Prepare method drawings, rigging sketches, and crane utilization plans for block handling operations.
- Ensure compliance with shipyard standards, classification society requirements, and safety regulations.
- Support production teams during block erection, turnover, and dock assembly activities.
- Maintain drawing revisions, document control, and as-built records.

Required Skills

- Strong knowledge of shipbuilding block construction, erection, and heavy lifting operations.
- Experience in preparing block turnover and lifting arrangement drawings.
- Understanding of hull structures, ship blocks, fabrication sequences, and erection methodology.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (mandatory).
- Experience with AVEVA Marine, Cadmatic, or similar shipbuilding software.
- Ability to interpret structural drawings and production plans.
- Knowledge of lifting calculations, rigging arrangements, and crane operations.
- Good coordination and communication skills.

Qualification

- Diploma / ITI / BE in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, Shipbuilding, or related discipline.
