Job Summary

We are looking for a motivated Piping Stress Engineer with 1–3 years of experience in piping stress analysis and engineering design. The candidate will support project teams by performing flexibility and stress analysis, developing support solutions, and ensuring code-compliant, safe, and constructible piping designs across the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform static and agile piping stress analysis using CAESAR II software for critical and non-critical lines.

• Analyze sustained, thermal, occasional, seismic, wind, slug, water hammer, and relief/PSV reaction loads on piping systems.

• Prepare stress analysis reports, stress isometrics, flexibility studies, and nozzle load calculations for static/rotating equipment.

• Evaluate nozzle loads against equipment allowables (API 610, API 617, NEMA SM23, manufacturer data sheets) and recommend design modifications where required.

• Recommend and finalize pipe support types, locations, and spring hanger selection (variable/constant spring supports) based on stress analysis results.

• Perform local stress analysis at nozzle-to-shell/vessel connections using WRC 297/537, FE-Pipe, or equivalent methods where applicable.

• Review and interpret P&IDs;, plot plans, isometrics, and GA drawings to identify critical lines and stress-sensitive routings early in design.

• Coordinate with piping layout, civil/structural, rotating equipment, and instrumentation teams to resolve routing, support, and interface issues.

• Prepare Material Requisitions and Technical Bid Evaluations (TBEs) for pipe supports,

expansion joints, and special items.

• Review vendor drawings for expansion joints, spring hangers, and other special piping components for compliance with design intent.

• Ensure compliance with ASME B31.1/B31.3, B31.5, client engineering standards, and applicable statutory/regulatory requirements.

• Prepare and respond to Technical Queries (TQs) and participate in HAZOP/design review meetings related to piping stress and supports.

• Support site teams during construction and commissioning by addressing field stress-related queries and reviewing as-built deviations.

• Maintain stress analysis documentation, calculation registers, and revision tracking in line with project quality procedures.

Required Skills

• Working knowledge of CAESAR II.

• Solid understanding of piping engineering fundamentals, material properties, and flexibility principles.

• Knowledge of ASME B31.1/B31.3 and other applicable piping and pressure equipment codes (ASME Section VIII, API 610/617 as relevant).

• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs;, isometrics, GA drawings, and equipment datasheets.

• Understanding of pipe support standards, spring hanger sizing, and expansion loop design principles.

• Exposure to AutoCAD/Plant 3D for reviewing 3D models and extracting isometrics is an advantage.

• Good analytical, documentation, and cross-discipline coordination skills.

Qualification

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Preferred Industry

Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Chemical, Power, Water Treatment, and EPC projects.
