Job DescriptionSummaryThe LeadEngineer – Electrical Component will play a key role in supportingthe sales and business development by providing technical expertisein the design of electrification solutions for the EHV/HVSubstations. This individual will be responsible for system design,material selection, quantity estimation, various engineeringactivities associated for a project and customer technicalconsultations. The candidate will also ensure that the proposedsolutions meet customer needs while adhering to industry standards,safety regulations, quality requirements and cost-efficiencyobjectives.The candidate shall execute with associationof workgroups, where applicable, in order to meet assignedobjectives. In this role, the candidate will work within definedparameters to make decisions, apply concepts to issues of moderatecomplexity, and resolve issues through immediate action orshort-term planning.The candidate will work with GSIGlobal Engineering Centre (GSI GEC) to coordinate with the GSIRegions / Business Lines / as per Projectrequirement.JobDescriptionSpecificRole Requirements:HV(Primary) designs for 132 kV and above GIS/AIS SubstationEngineering for Grid InterconnectedProjectsPreparation of basic Single LineDiagram, Layout Plan & Section of Overall plant, Equipmentcontrol room, Earthing Layout, DSLP Layout, Trench LayoutetcEarthing design, Lightning design, CableSizing, Battery Sizing, Illumination system design, Sag Tensioncalculation, Short Circuit Force and Bus- bar Sizing as perIEEE/IEC.Project related all EquipmentSelection/ Sizing as per IEEE/IECPreparationof all Distribution/Auxiliarysystem.Evaluation of vendor Drawings, GTP,Calculation & Technical SpecsLV/MVEngineering for the collector substation, unit substation &pooling; stationITO (tender) drawings, BOQestimation, RFQ finalization & evaluation of variouscomponents,
selection of equipment with best pricingoptions.Co-ordination and integration withAutomation, Civil & MEP.Co-ordination ofsite & office team for execution ofprojectFlexible and quick to learn globaldevelopments in renewable technologies andadopt.Knowhow of IEEE / IEC codes, safety indesign/EHS aspects, AC substation industry engineeringpractices.Good Communication skills &capability; to lead project independently along with Clienthandling.Team handling &development.Add-onCompetency;(Optional)FACTSproject engg i.e. STATCOM, FSC, SynchronousCondenserHVDC/FACTS integrated projectapplications.Competency on specialized toolslike CANECO, ETAP, CDGES or equivalentWorkingexperience with 3D DesignTools.Qualifications/RequirementsBachelor’sdegree in electrical engineering or related field, from anaccredited college or university.Minimum of 8+years of experience in EHV/ HV Substationdesign.Good understanding of power systemcomponents (transformers, switchgear, protection systems) andrenewable energy integration.Excellentcommunication skills, capable of explaining complex technicalconcepts to both technical and non-technicalstakeholders.Strong analytical andproblem-solving skills, with the ability to balance technicalrequirements and business needs.Ability towork collaboratively across teams and withclients.Flexible for travelgloballyKeyCompetencies:Customer-CentricApproach: Ability to translate customer needs into technicalsolutions that are practical, cost-effective, and compliant withindustry standards.Technical Expertise: Deepknowledge of electrical system design, material selection, andquantity estimation tailored for oil and gasprojects.Project Management: Ability to managemultiple tasks, meet deadlines, and provide leadership throughoutthe design and implementation phases.Safety& Compliance: Strong commitment to safety and regulatorycompliance, with a focus on delivering designs that meetindustry-specific standards.
