Job DescriptionSummaryAs aLead Engineer – Control & Protection at GE Vernova GridSolutions, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing,and optimizing protection relay systems for EHV/HV substationsconsidering the safety/quality/Cost/time delivery criteria. Yourexpertise will ensure the reliability and efficiency of powersystems, supporting our global operations across variousregions.This role involves in leading the secondaryengineering activities (Control & Protection, SubstationAutomation Systems, Interface Engineering, Telecom Requirements& LV Auxiliary Systems for EHV/HV Electrical Substations (AIS /GIS / HVDC / FACTS / STATCOM / Onshore / Offshore /Renewable/etc.,) The candidate shall execute withassociation of workgroups, where applicable, in order to meetassigned objectives. In this role, the candidate will work withindefined parameters to draw conclusions, apply concepts to issues ofmoderate complexity, and resolve issues through immediate action orshort-term planning. The candidate will work with GSI GlobalEngineering Center (GSI GEC) to coordinate with the GSI Regions /Business Lines / as per Project requirement.JobDescriptionRolesandResponsibilitiesSpecificRoleRequirements:Designand prepare Engineering drawings (SLD/KLD/PSLD/CRP) as per projectrequirement in anyone of E-CAD Tool (Ex. Engineering Basesoftware/E-Plan/ AutoCAD Electrical/equivalent) for up to 400/765kVSubstations.Design/Review the Substationautomation system based on IEC61850 &interconnections.Review; BOQ and Networkdrawings of PLCC/FOTE engineering and need to interface between CRP& SAS with Telecom Equipment.Reviewequipment drawings of major Substation Equipment for AIS / GIS likeCircuit breakers, Isolators, Earth switches,



CSD, PDM,Transformers/Reactors & associated Conditional MonitoringDevices etc.,Perform CT and VT and its sizingcalculations.Design and Review thecontrol/Power cable engineering insubstations.Design the LV/LT auxiliary systemsfor Electrical Substations and interface with theSAS/SCADA.Perform/review the protection relayapplication / setting calculations and coordination includingtrippinganalysis.Add-onCompetency(Optional)Renewableproject engg i.e. Solar, On-shore / Off-shore Wind, Battery Storageor hybrid.HVDC/FACTS integrated projectapplications.Perform/Review the study onElectrical Power systems and load flow and short circuit studiesetc.,Competency on specialized tools likeCANECO, ETAP, DIG Silent or equivalentWorkingexperience in SAS, Database Preparation in the automation/RTUsoftwareReview / consolidate the IO Mappingwith respect to the scheme drawings/troubleshoot of database issuesin SAS system / RTU based system.Able to workwith different make IEDs, Numerical protection relays andBCUs.RequiredQualificationsBachelor’s(or) master’s degree in electricalengineering.8+ years of experience insubstation protection relay systems within EHV ElectricalSubstations, Oil & Gas or Power Transmissionindustries.Experience in EPC (Engineering,Procurement, Construction) environments with multidisciplinaryteams.Experience of Secondary(CRP/SAS,



AuxSystems, Telecom, Interface) engineering up to 765kV/400kV/220KVand HVDC Substations(AIS/GIS/SOLAR/WIND).Experience/Knowledge onRelay Testing, Equipment Testing, Control / Protection schemetesting & SAS Commissioning experience (min 1 year) shall begiven additionalweightage.DesiredCharacteristicsStrongoral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal,responsive and supervision skills. Demonstrated ability to evaluateand resolve problems. Demonstrated ability to manage programs /projects. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.Established project management skills.Fluentin English; additional language (any foreign Language) is aplus.Willingness to travel internationally asrequired.Proven technical leadership in acomplex system engineering developmentenvironment.Proactively serves on crossfunctional leadership teams; self-directed decision-making; Pullsin experts whenneeded.KeyCompetencesTechnicalExpertise: In-depth understanding of substation protection systems,relay technologies, relay tripping philosophies, substationautomation systems, Interface Engineering, LV Auxiliary Systems& Telecom Panels.Project Management:Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meetdeadlines.Communication: Excellent verbal andwritten communication skills for effective customer and teaminteractions.Solid leadership, supportive andteam coordination abilities to guide and mentor juniorengineers.Problem-Solving: Proficient inidentifying issues and implementing effectivesolutions.Quality Focus: Commitment tomaintaining high standards of quality andcompliance.AdditionalInformationRelocation Assistance Provided:Yes
