About The Role

Springer Nature is seeking an Associate or Senior Editor to join the Research Cross-Journal Editorial Team.

This exciting position involves being part of a team of editors that will work closely and flexibly with the existing Nature Research Journals. The ideal candidate would be a critical thinker with a deep understanding of their subject, curiosity and a desire to learn about areas beyond it, and who can think on their feet.

Role responsibilities:

- Managing editorial processes relating to manuscript assessment and the peer-review process - Manuscript Assessment, Critical Scientific Evaluation, Communicates Effectively, Decision Quality, Publishing Workflows & Systems.
- Commissioning, editing, and writing content for journals - Scientific & Academic Writing.
- Working closely with Chief Editors and journal teams, while reporting to the Head of the Research Cross-Journal Team, on other aspects of journal content and strategy,



as appropriate - Collaboration, Scientific Comprehension.

Experience, Skills & Qualifications:

- Research experience to PhD level (or equivalent) in any basic biology research with a particular emphasis on but not limited to neuroscience, genetics/genomics, molecular biology, or a closely aligned discipline.
- A keen interest in research both within and beyond your specialty.
- The ability to absorb and understand new areas of research.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Time management and work prioritization skills.
- Postdoctoral experience is not required but would be a plus.
- Previous editorial experience is desirable but not essential.
- Additional expertise in related disciplines would be advantageous.
