Job Description: Sourcing Manager China Procurement

We are looking for candidates with strong experience in sourcing finished/bought-out products from the China ecosystem. The focus should be on professionals who have managed end-to-end sourcing, supplier identification, vendor development, cost negotiations, and procurement of finished goods, rather than those primarily involved in component sourcing. Preferred candidates would come from the electronics, electrical, consumer durables, or allied manufacturing industries, with hands-on exposure to China-based suppliers and sourcing networks.

Role Purpose

The Sourcing Manager China Procurement will be responsible for developing the China sourcing approachfor Orient Electric, driving supplier identification and selection, managing RFQs and negotiations, andbuilding a reliable portfolio of China-based manufacturers across relevant consumer electrical andappliance categories.

The role requires strong expertise in evaluating factories that can deliver products as per definedspecifications, quality standards, compliance requirements, timelines, and target costs. The person will playa key role in ensuring that sourced products are commercially viable, operationally reliable, and alignedwith Orient Electrics product roadmap.

The ideal candidate should be a self-starter with strong ownership, negotiation ability, vendor managementskills, project management discipline, financial acumen, attention to detail, and the ability to work closelywith cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products to the market.

Key Responsibilities

China Vendor Development & Supplier Network Building

Identify, evaluate, and onboard suitable China-based manufacturers, trading partners, and sourcingagencies for relevant consumer electrical and appliance categories.

Build a vendor base across priority categories such as small appliances, lighting, smart electricals,portable products, accessories, and new digital-first product opportunities.

Assess vendors on manufacturing capability, product range, technical strength, export experience,certification readiness, production capacity, quality systems, and commercial competitiveness.

Maintain a structured vendor database with details of product specialization, certifications, factorycapabilities, MOQ, lead times, pricing history, and past performance.

Develop alternate supplier options to reduce dependency on single vendors and improve sourcingflexibility.

Coordinate sample development, sample dispatch, sample testing,



design iterations, packagingrequirements, and final product confirmation with China vendors and internal stakeholders.

RFQ, Costing & Commercial Negotiation

Lead the RFQ process for new and existing products, including sharing product specifications,technical requirements, packaging expectations, certification needs, and commercial terms withsuppliers.

Compare quotations across vendors by analyzing product cost, tooling cost, MOQ, payment terms,freight impact, packaging cost, certification cost, and landed cost implications.

Negotiate pricing, commercial terms, payment terms, lead times, MOQ, warranty support, spareparts support, and after-sales obligations with suppliers.

Work with internal teams to arrive at target cost, expected margin, landed cost, and category-levelcommercial feasibility.

Identify cost-saving opportunities through alternate materials, product design changes, vendorconsolidation, logistics optimization, and better commercial terms.

Ensure proper documentation of final negotiated terms before order placement.

Quality, Compliance & Certification Coordination

Ensure that all sourced products meet applicable Indian regulatory, safety, quality, and compliancerequirements before procurement.

Coordinate with internal Quality, R&D;, and Compliance teams to verify datasheets, technicalspecifications, product test reports, factory certifications, BIS applicability, safety standards, andother required documents.

Ensure vendors provide complete and accurate documentation such as product specifications, CB/CE/RoHS reports where applicable, material details, test reports, user manuals, packaging artworkinputs, and compliance declarations.

Supplier Performance Management

Regularly monitor vendor performance across cost, quality, delivery timelines, responsiveness,compliance documentation, production reliability, and issue-resolution capability.

Use structured vendor reviews, scorecards, audit inputs, and internal feedback to evaluate factoryand supplier performance on an ongoing basis.

Conduct periodic vendor reviews and recommend whether to continue, develop, replace, or de-prioritize vendors.

Build long-term relationships with high-performing suppliers while maintaining commercialdiscipline and accountability.

Order Placement, Production Follow-Up & Delivery Coordination





Coordinate with vendors and internal teams for order placement, proforma invoices, advancepayments, production timelines, packaging confirmation, inspection schedules, and dispatchreadiness.

Coordinate with logistics, import, and supply chain teams for shipment planning, freightcoordination, customs documentation, and delivery timelines.

Support resolution of production delays, shipment delays, documentation gaps, and commercialdisputes.

Maintain clear communication logs and status trackers for all active China procurement projects.

Risk Management & Business Continuity

Identify sourcing risks related to vendor dependency, compliance gaps, quality failures, currencyfluctuations, lead-time delays, logistics disruptions, and geopolitical or regulatory changes.

Develop alternate sourcing options and contingency plans for critical products and high-dependencyvendors.

Work toward lead-time reduction, vendor diversification, supply reliability, and cost efficiency.

Required Skills & Competencies

Strong experience in China sourcing, international procurement, vendor development, or importprocurement.

Good understanding of consumer electricals, small appliances, lighting, smart devices, or relatedFMEG categories.

Robust negotiation skills with the ability to manage cost, MOQ, payment terms, lead times, andsupplier commitments.

Ability to read and understand product specifications, datasheets, test reports, compliancedocuments, and technical product requirements.

Strong commercial acumen with understanding of landed cost, margins, freight impact, duties,tooling cost, and cost drivers.

Strong project management skills with the ability to track multiple products, vendors, samples, andtimelines simultaneously.

Detail-oriented approach toward documentation, compliance, quality checks, and vendorcommunication.

Strong communication skills for working with Chinese suppliers and internal Indian stakeholders.

Ability to manage ambiguity, resolve disputes, and take ownership of outcomes.

High integrity, process discipline, and accountability in vendor dealings and commercialnegotiations.

Preferred Experience

5–8 years of experience in sourcing, procurement, vendor development, international buying, orsupply chain roles.

Prior experience working with China-based manufacturers or import suppliers is strongly preferred.

Experience in consumer electricals, appliances, lighting, smart home products, fans, kitchenappliances, or home utility products will be an advantage.

Exposure to BIS, product testing, factory audits, inspection processes, import documentation, andcompliance workflows will be preferred.

Experience in new product development sourcing and cost benchmarking will be an addedadvantage.
