Role Context

The Senior Engineer Mechanical Procurement (Projects) will be responsible for end-to-end procurement of electrical and electro-mechanical systems for hydro power projects. The role involves strategic sourcing, vendor development, cost optimization, logistics coordination, and close collaboration with internal stakeholders to ensure timely availability of materials within approved budgets.

Qualifications & Experience

B.E. in Mechanical Engineering with 5 to 8 years of experience in a project-oriented heavy engineering company.

- Depth knowledge in Mechanical components like items like OPS, CWS, Crane, Gear box, Bearings, Fabricated Items, Terminal boxes, Steel Plates, Tubes, Pipes, Shaft, Fittings, Tank, Valves, Cast Iron, Steel Casting, Copper, Transformer, Pumps, Instruments, Fans and Hydro Project components.

- Techno-commercial expertise in end-to-end planning, scheduling, procurement, purchasing, sourcing, and vendor development.
- Experience in hydro/power projects with strategic sourcing from Purchase Requisition to supplier payment reconciliation.
- Hands-on experience with ERP Materials Module including MSR, RFQs, PO generation, and pending PR reports.
- Proven ability to implement cost-reduction initiatives aligned with material procurement, production control, and project schedules.




- Strong knowledge of procurement documentation, procedures, and coordination with Finance for timely supplier payments.
- Experience in sourcing strategy formulation, vendor identification and development, and supply chain optimization.
- Expertise in material, spares, and consumables management ensuring proper accounting and timely issue to production and sites.
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, and negotiation skills with a process-driven approach to achieve cost and organizational goals.
- Active coordination with vendors for documentation, payment follow-ups, and resolution of short receipt or billing issues.
- Experience in costing, negotiations, finalization, and release of purchase orders for hydro project bought-out items.
- Regular monitoring of cost-reduction activities and preparation of quarterly Cost vs Budget reports.
- Oversight of logistics and transportation activities.
- Coordination with internal teams and agencies for export/import documentation and compliance.
- Verification and review of export/import documents including invoices, packing lists, shipping bills, Bills of Entry, and Bills of Lading.
- Close follow-up with agencies to resolve customs queries and ensure smooth clearance.
- Sound knowledge of road-worthy, sea-worthy, and air-worthy packing standards and related certification requirements.
