Job Title: Quantity Surveyor (Structures Roads & Highways)
Role & Responsibilities
- Quantity Take-offs & Estimation:
- Perform detailed quantity take-offs for all structural works (bridges, flyovers, culverts, underpasses, retaining walls, and minor structures) from GADs, structural drawings, and BIM models.
- Prepare accurate Bill of Quantities (BOQ), rate analysis, and cost estimates in accordance with MORT&H;, IRC, and project specifications.
- Billing & Certification:
- Prepare, process, and reconcile client running account (RA) bills, final bills, and variation/claim statements in a timely manner.
- Check, verify, and certify sub-contractor bills based on actual joint measurements in office and approved DPRs (Daily Progress Reports).
- Reconciliation & Material Management:
- Conduct regular material reconciliation (steel, concrete, cement, formwork, specialized bearings, etc.) comparing actual usage against theoretical structural calculations to minimize wastage.
- Prepare BBS (Bar Bending Schedules) and verify structural steel consumption against approved construction drawings.
- Cost Control & Budgeting:
- Assist in tracking project cash flows, preparing monthly cost-to-complete statements, and highlighting cost overruns in structural items.
- Review site variations, scope changes,
and extra work claims; prepare necessary technical and financial documentation for submission to the client/consultant.
Preferred Candidate Profile
- Education:
- B.E. / B.Tech or Diploma in Civil Engineering (Mandatory).
- Professional certification in Quantity Surveying or Cost Management is an added advantage.
- Experience:
- 3 to 8 years of core hands-on experience as a Quantity Surveyor specifically in Roads & Highways / Infrastructure projects.
- Proven track record in structural components of highway projects (Elevated corridors, Bridges, ROBs, RUBs, Box Culverts).
- Technical Skills & Software Knowledge:
- Strong expertise in reading structural drawings, GADs, and technical specifications (MORT&H; / IRC).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Excel (Advanced), and QS software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, or ERP systems like SAP/Oracle).
- Solid understanding of FIDIC / standard Indian EPC and HAM contract conditions.
- Key Competencies:
- High numerical accuracy and analytical thinking.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills for dealing with clients, consultants, and sub-contractors.
- Ability to work effectively on-site alongside project managers and execution teams.
