The Role

This role involves ensuring high availability, performance tuning, data integrity, backup and recovery, and supporting development and operational teams with database solutions.

- Administer and support IBM Informix databases across development, testing, and production environments.
- Install, configure, and upgrade Informix database server software.
- Monitor database performance, perform tuning, and ensure optimal efficiency and uptime.
- Manage database backup and recovery strategies, including DR planning and testing.
- Maintenance Enhancement: Troubleshoot, debug, and modify existing Informix 4GL application code, forms, and reports to meet evolving business needs.
- Database Programming: Write, optimize, and tune complex SQL statements, stored procedures, and triggers for the IBM Informix Dynamic Server (IDS) database.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, working with application developers and system administrators.

Required Technical and Qualified Experience

- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 8+ years of hands-on experience with IBM Informix database administration.




- Strong proficiency with SQL and Informix tools (dbaccess, onstat, oncheck, etc.).
- Solid understanding of database architecture, replication, and disaster recovery.
- Informix 4GL: Proficiency in the Informix 4GL programming language
- SQL Mastery: Excellent skills in writing, optimizing, and debugging complex SQL and PL/SQL (or similar procedural SQL) within the Informix environment.
