Position Summary
Walmart International is seeking a Principal Technical Program Manager (TPM) to join the International Catalog Platform organization within Walmart Global Tech. The International Catalog team builds and scales the foundational platforms that power item onboarding, supplier enablement, catalog governance, content quality, assortment expansion, marketplace growth, and product discoverability across Walmart s international markets including Canada, Mexico, Chile, and future growth markets.
As a Principal TPM, you will lead some of the largest and most strategically important platform transformation initiatives within the international business. You will be responsible for defining and driving multi-year technology programs that span multiple product and engineering organizations, influence platform strategy, and deliver measurable business outcomes across markets.
This role requires exceptional program leadership, technical depth, business acumen, stakeholder management, and organizational influence. You will work across Product, Engineering, Architecture, Operations, Marketplace, Merchandising, Data Science, and Business leadership teams to drive large-scale catalog modernization and platform investment initiatives. The successful candidate will have a strong record of delivering complex, enterprise-scale programs while shaping strategy, optimizing execution models, and influencing senior leadership.
About the Team
The International Catalog Platform team is responsible for building and operating the systems that enable suppliers and merchants to create, manage, enrich, govern, and scale product catalogs across Walmart International. These platforms support item lifecycle management, content management, taxonomy, assortment expansion, compliance validation, supplier onboarding, search readiness, product discoverability, and catalog operational excellence.
The team partners closely with Product, Engineering, Marketplace, Merchandising, Supply Chain, Data Science, Operations, and Market leadership teams to enable accelerated assortment growth while maintaining quality, governance, compliance, and operational efficiency at scale.
As a Principal TPM, you will play a critical leadership role in shaping the future of Walmart Internationals Catalog ecosystem and driving technology investments that unlock growth across global markets.
What Youll Do
Strategic Program Leadership
- Define goals, stage gates, critical delivery paths, and success criteria for large-scale catalog initiatives spanning multiple organizations, platforms, and markets.
- Lead strategic programs involving catalog modernization, supplier enablement, item management transformation, marketplace expansion, content governance, and platform consolidation.
- Establish long-term multi-quarter roadmaps while balancing business priorities, technical constraints, resource availability, and market-specific requirements.
- Drive clarity in highly ambiguous situations involving competing business strategies, product priorities, and technology investments.
- Secure executive alignment, resource commitments, and delivery ownership across multiple functions.
- Identify synergies, capability overlaps, process inefficiencies, and technology duplication opportunities across catalog platforms and products.
- Mentor TPMs and drive continuous improvements in program execution methodologies, governance frameworks, and ways of working.
Technical Leadership
- Partner with engineering and architecture leaders to define technology strategies and end-to-end execution plans for highly complex distributed systems.
- Participate in architecture reviews and influence design decisions that impact scalability, resilience, security, performance, maintainability, and operational excellence.
- Drive dependency management across multiple platforms, APIs, services, data systems, supplier-facing applications, and downstream consumer experiences.
- Evaluate trade-offs across engineering investments, architectural approaches, build-versus-buy decisions, and modernization opportunities.
- Ensure engineering teams establish robust release management, rollback strategies, monitoring frameworks, observability capabilities, and operational readiness plans.
- Guide platform simplification and standardization efforts through reuse of shared capabilities and elimination of redundant solutions.
- Promote automation, engineering productivity improvements, and scalable delivery frameworks across programs.
International Catalog Domain Leadership
- Serve as a strategic leader for catalog-related business and technology initiatives across international markets.
- Develop deep expertise in catalog management, item lifecycle management, supplier onboarding, assortment expansion, content quality, compliance management, marketplace enablement, product discovery, and catalog governance.
- Partner with market, product, and business leaders to identify growth opportunities and technology investments that accelerate business outcomes.
- Influence roadmap priorities based on industry trends, competitive analysis, operational needs, and emerging technologies.
- Lead impact assessments and due diligence activities to support strategic platform and product decisions.
- Drive transformation initiatives that improve supplier experience, item setup speed, catalog accuracy, content completeness, assortment growth, operational efficiency, and customer experience.
Program Delivery Excellence
- Own and drive large, cross-functional programs that span multiple engineering organizations and strategic business initiatives.
- Define execution frameworks for complex initiatives and decompose vague business problems into actionable workstreams.
- Establish scalable governance mechanisms, operating models, reporting cadences, executive reviews, and portfolio management processes.
- Continuously reassess program roadmaps and execution plans to identify paths to green for at-risk initiatives.
- Build risk management frameworks and proactively remove obstacles impacting delivery.
- Drive prioritisation decisions across competing programs, resource constraints, technical dependencies, and market demands.
- Implement repeatable, measurable, and scalable processes that accelerate execution while improving quality and predictability.
- Optimise utilisation of engineering capacity and technology investments by ensuring effort is focused on the highest-value outcomes.
Executive Stakeholder Management & Communication
- Build trusted relationships with senior executives, engineering leaders, product leaders, architects, business stakeholders, operational teams, and market leadership.
- Influence strategic decisions through data-driven insights, structured communication, and executive-level storytelling.
- Lead discussions involving multiple stakeholders with competing priorities and drive consensus across organizations.
- Create executive-ready business reviews, investment proposals, portfolio assessments, risk reports, roadmap presentations, and operational updates.
- Drive alignment across cross-functional teams while establishing clear accountability, ownership, governance, and execution frameworks.
- Communicate complex technical and business concepts effectively to audiences ranging from engineering teams to executive leadership.
Analytical Problem Solving & Decision Making
- Define business and program success metrics aligned to strategic organizational objectives.
- Extract insights from engineering, operational, business, customer, and program data to drive decision making.
- Identify systemic issues, organizational bottlenecks, and hidden dependencies that impact program outcomes.
- Lead resolution of complex business and technology challenges through structured problem-solving methodologies.
- Build data-driven prioritisation frameworks to support portfolio planning and investment decisions.
- Mentor TPMs and leaders on analytical thinking, problem decomposition, and fact-based decision-making approaches.
Organisation & TPM Leadership
- Provide mentorship and guidance to TPMs across the organisation.
- Establish best practices for program management, delivery governance, executive communication, portfolio planning, and stakeholder management.
- Drive adoption of standardised program management frameworks, tooling, metrics, and reporting models.
- Contribute to the growth of the TPM organisation through coaching, capability development, process improvements, and leadership initiatives.

Technical Program Management Expertise
- 15+ years of experience in Technical Program Management, Engineering Program Management, Software Engineering, Architecture, or related technical leadership roles.
- Proven success delivering large-scale, enterprise-wide technology transformation initiatives involving multiple organizations and executive stakeholders.
