2 Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead technical strategy and delivery for Solar PV, BESS, and Hybrid Renewable Energy projects, including feasibility studies, technical due diligence, bid support, and Owner's Engineering assignments.
- Perform and review energy yield assessments, solar resource analysis, plant sizing, technology selection, system optimization, and techno-commercial evaluations.
- Review and approve PV plant layouts, DC/AC Single Line Diagrams (SLDs),
electrical system design, equipment selection, BOQs, CAPEX/OPEX estimates, and LCOE analysis.
- Design and optimize hybrid renewable energy systems (PV + BESS, PV + Wind, Hybrid Plants), including battery sizing, energy storage optimization, and Python-based modelling.
- Lead technical due diligence by reviewing project layouts, technology specifications, certifications, contracts, warranties, and identifying technical risks with mitigation strategies.
- Monitor plant performance using SCADA and operational data, analyse system performance, identify underperformance, and develop automation tools using Python/VBA for reporting and analytics.
- Conduct techno-commercial evaluations of PV modules, inverters, battery systems, converters, and emerging renewable energy technologies to ensure technical and commercial viability.
- Provide technical leadership during site assessments, feasibility studies, commissioning, performance ratio (PR) testing, and acceptance of utility-scale renewable energy projects.
- Support business development through proposal preparation, technical presentations, client engagement, bid strategy, and participation in industry forums.
- Build, mentor, and lead a multidisciplinary engineering team while ensuring high-quality, bankable deliverables, standardized engineering practices,
and continuous technical capability development.
3 Competency
- 7+ years of progressive experience in renewable energy engineering/consulting, with at least 2 - 3 years in a leadership role.
- Deep expertise across Solar PV, Wind, hybrid systems and BESS, spanning technical, commercial and strategic dimensions.
- Advanced proficiency in Python and Excel (including VBA) for data analytics, automation and tool development.
- Hands-on mastery of PVsyst, Helioscope, Google SketchUp, PV Case, PV Farm and similar simulation and modelling tools.
- Proven experience analyzing SCADA/data logger outputs for system diagnostics and fleet-wide performance evaluation.
- Demonstrated success leading hybrid system design and energy optimization engagements.
- Strong command of regulatory frameworks and grid codes applicable to renewable energy projects.
- Working knowledge of international and regional standards (IS, IEC, NEC, IEEE, NFPA, NESC, EN).
- Substantial experience with Performance Ratio (PR) testing, thermographic inspection and technical audits.
- Proven ability to build, lead and develop high-performing technical teams.
- Track record of client relationship management and contribution to business development in a consulting environment.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple high-stakes engagements simultaneously.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting to senior client and lender stakeholders.
- Robust analytical, statistical and problem-solving capabilities, with sound commercial judgment.
