Job Title: Supplier Quality Engineer

ROLE OVERVIEW
As a Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE), you will be responsible for ensuring supplier quality across the entire product lifecycle, from early development stages to stable series production. You will collaborate closely with procurement, engineering, production, and global suppliers to ensure compliance with defined quality standards and continuous improvement across the supply chain. The role involves driving supplier development, resolving quality issues, and ensuring robust quality systems are implemented and maintained at supplier locations. You will act as a key interface between internal functions and suppliers to ensure product quality, process stability, and adherence to organizational and regulatory requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES but not limited to:
- Ensure supplier quality throughout product development and series production phases
- Select, evaluate, and qualify new suppliers in coordination with strategic procurement
- Plan, coordinate, and approve supplier-related production assurance measures
- Manage supplier complaints,
including root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions
- Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to resolve technical and quality-related issues
- Evaluate sample parts and support validation and approval processes for recent components (e.g., PPAP. PPF)
- Conduct supplier audits including process, system, and product audits
- Monitor supplier quality performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Support development and enhancement of global quality standards, methods, and processes
- Contribute to industrialization of new products ensuring quality requirements are met
- Ensure compliance with quality management systems and applicable industry standards
- Support cross-functional coordination between engineering, production, procurement, and quality teams
REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured approach to quality issues
- Deep understanding of supplier quality management and industrial manufacturing processes
- Ability to conduct root cause analysis and implement sustainable corrective actions
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills in a global environment
- Ability to influence and collaborate effectively with suppliers and internal teams
- Hands-on experience with quality tools and methodologies (8D, FMEA, Ishikawa, SPC)
- Experience with PPAP / PPF or similar sampling and approval processes
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 and preferably IATF 16949 standards
- Strong auditing and evaluation skills for supplier assessment and qualification
- High attention to detail with a strong focus on process compliance and quality standards
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple supplier interfaces
- Strong decision-making ability in time-critical quality situations
- Willingness to travel for supplier visits and audits
- Proficiency in ERP and quality management systems with adaptability to digital tools
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related technical field
- Equivalent technical qualification with relevant experience also considered
- 4-8 of experience in supplier quality management, quality assurance, or supplier development roles
- Exposure to manufacturing or industrial environments preferred
- Very positive command of German and English (written and spoken)
