We are seeking an experienced General Manager Plant Operations with a strong background in chemical manufacturing and chlorination processes to lead and manage end-to-end plant operations. The incumbent will be responsible for driving operational excellence, ensuring safe and efficient plant performance, achieving production and financial targets, maintaining statutory compliance, and leading cross-functional teams across Production, Process Engineering, Maintenance, Electrical, Instrumentation, EHS, Quality, Utilities, Stores, and Dispatch.

The ideal candidate should possess solid leadership capabilities, technical expertise in chlorination chemistry, and proven experience in managing large-scale continuous chemical manufacturing operations

Key Responsibilities

Plant Operations

Lead the overall operations of the chemical manufacturing plant.

Ensure achievement of daily, monthly, and annual production targets.

Maximize plant capacity utilization while minimizing downtime.

Ensure smooth coordination between all plant departments.

Experience in Chlorination is Mandatory

Production & Process Management

Oversee chlorination process operations and ensure process stability.

Drive process optimization to improve productivity, yield, and product quality.

Review production planning and execution.

Monitor critical operating parameters including:

Chlorine handling and dosing

Reactor operations

High-pressure hydrogenation systems

Distillation columns

Utilities and process controls

Lead troubleshooting of complex process issues.

Process Engineering

Lead process improvement and debottlenecking initiatives.

Review and approve:





Process Flow Diagrams (PFD)

Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID;)

Mass & Energy Balance

Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

Equipment specifications

Lead plant commissioning, expansion projects, and capacity enhancement initiatives.

Drive automation and digitalization of plant operations.

Safety, Health & Environment (EHS)

Ensure compliance with all statutory safety and environmental regulations.

Promote a strong safety culture across the organization.

Ensure safe handling, storage, and transportation of chlorine and hazardous chemicals.

Lead HAZOP, Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), risk assessments, and emergency preparedness programs.

Ensure compliance with Pollution Control Board norms and other applicable regulations.

Drive Zero Harm and Zero Incident initiatives.

Maintenance & Reliability

Oversee preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance activities.

Improve equipment reliability and plant availability.

Lead shutdown planning, annual turnarounds, and maintenance budgeting.

Ensure effective coordination between Production and Maintenance teams.

Quality Management

Ensure compliance with customer specifications and quality standards.

Coordinate with Quality Assurance and Quality Control teams.





Lead investigations into process deviations and customer complaints.

Drive CAPA implementation and continuous quality improvement.

Projects & Engineering

Lead greenfield and brownfield expansion projects.

Oversee installation, commissioning, and startup of new process equipment.

Manage project execution within budget and timelines.

Evaluate new technologies to improve plant performance.

Financial & Cost Management

Prepare and manage annual operating budgets.

Optimize manufacturing costs through process improvements.

Monitor raw material consumption and inventory.

Reduce utility consumption without compromising production efficiency.

Drive cost-saving and operational excellence initiatives.

Team Leadership

Lead and mentor departmental heads and plant personnel.

Build a high-performance, accountable work culture.

Conduct performance reviews and identify training and development needs.

Promote succession planning and leadership development.

Compliance & Documentation

Ensure compliance with Factory Act, environmental regulations, and company policies.

Review operational reports and MIS dashboards.

Ensure accurate documentation of production, maintenance, safety, and quality records.

Support customer, statutory, and certification audits.

Stakeholder Management

Coordinate with corporate leadership on strategic initiatives.

Build effective relationships with vendors, consultants, regulatory authorities, and customers.

Support business growth through operational excellence and continuous improvement
