Key Responsibilities

1. Power Plant Electrical Systems

- Operation and maintenance of generators, transformers, switchgear, motors, and protection systems.
- Monitoring electrical equipment performance and ensuring uninterrupted power generation.
- Troubleshooting electrical faults and coordinating repairs.

2. High-Voltage Equipment

- Managing substations, transmission interfaces, circuit breakers, isolators, and protection relays.
- Conducting testing and commissioning of new electrical equipment.
- Ensuring compliance with grid and safety standards.

3. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance

- Preparing maintenance schedules.
- Analyzing equipment condition through testing and diagnostics.
- Reducing forced outages and improving plant availability.

4. Project Execution

- Reviewing electrical drawings and specifications.
- Supervising contractors during erection and commissioning activities.
- Coordinating with civil, mechanical, instrumentation, and control teams.

5. Safety & Compliance

- Following electrical safety procedures and permit systems.
- Ensuring compliance with regulations from organizations such as Central Electricity Authority and other statutory bodies.
- Conducting safety audits and risk assessments.

6. Renewable Energy Projects

In NTPC's solar and renewable projects, engineers may also work on:

- Solar PV systems
- Inverters and power conversion systems
- Battery energy storage systems
- Grid integration and SCADA monitoring
