An Ophthalmologist is a licensed medical doctor specializing in the diagnosis, treatment, management, and prevention of diseases and disorders affecting the eyes and vision. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and vision assessments.
- Diagnose and treat eye diseases such as cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and infections.
- Prescribe medications, eyeglasses, and contact lenses.
- Perform ophthalmic surgeries, including cataract, laser, refractive, and emergency eye procedures.
- Manage pre-operative and post-operative patient care.
- Interpret diagnostic tests such as OCT, visual field testing, fundus photography, and corneal topography.
- Educate patients on eye health, disease prevention, and treatment options.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
