Job Summary

A Nephrologist is responsible for diagnosing, treating, and managing patients with kidney diseases, hypertension, electrolyte disorders, and chronic kidney disease. The consultant will oversee dialysis services, provide inpatient and outpatient care, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Care

- Diagnose and manage acute and chronic kidney diseases.
- Evaluate and treat patients with hypertension and electrolyte imbalances.
- Provide consultation services for inpatient and outpatient departments.
- Manage patients requiring hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis.
- Assess and manage acute kidney injury (AKI) cases.
- Provide pre- and post-kidney transplant care as applicable.

Dialysis Unit Management

- Supervise dialysis treatments and ensure patient safety.
- Monitor dialysis adequacy and quality indicators.
- Develop dialysis protocols and infection control practices.
- Guide dialysis technicians and nursing staff.

Patient Care & Counseling

- Educate patients and families regarding kidney disease management.
- Counsel patients on diet, lifestyle modifications, and treatment options.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation.

Quality & Compliance





- Adhere to hospital policies, NABH standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and CME activities.
- Ensure compliance with infection control and patient safety protocols.

Qualification

- MBBS
- MD/DNB General Medicine
- DM/DNB Nephrology
- Valid Medical Council Registration

Experience

- 0–2 years: Junior Consultant Nephrologist
- 3–5 years: Consultant Nephrologist
- 5+ years: Senior Consultant Nephrologist

Skills Required

- Expertise in dialysis management.
- Strong clinical decision-making abilities.
- Excellent communication and patient counseling skills.
- Team management and leadership capabilities.
- Knowledge of NABH standards and hospital protocols.
