About GEEK ART
GEEK ART is an Asia-focused contemporary art gallery with its offices in Recent Delhi and Tokyo, working across curatorial programming, artist representation, and exhibition-making. Our shows move between white-cube presentation and more experimental, immersive formats, which means the physical design of a space goes hand-in-hand with curation.
The Role
We're looking for a Space Designer + Production Lead to own the physical realization of GEEK ART's exhibitions, from spatial concept through to final install. You will sit at the intersection of design and production: translating a curatorial vision into a floor plan, and then making sure that plan actually gets built, on time and on budget.
This is a hands-on role. You'll be sketching layouts one day and standing on-site directing a fabrication crew the next. It suits someone who thinks spatially, isn't precious about switching between conceptual and logistical work, and wants to learn the full arc of how exhibitions get made.
What You'll Do
Space Design
- Develop spatial layouts and design concepts for exhibitions, art fair booths, and brand/gallery activations, working closely with the curatorial team to translate exhibition narratives into physical space
- Produce floor plans, elevations, and 3D visualizations to communicate design intent to the team, vendors, and fabricators
- Think through visitor flow, sightlines, lighting logic, and how works are staged in relation to one another and the architecture of a given venue
Production Leadership
- Own the production timeline for each show, working backwards from opening day to sequence fabrication, shipping, art handling,
and install
- Source, brief, and manage vendors and fabricators (carpentry, lighting, print, signage, framing, plinths, crating)
- Manage production budgets, get quotes, track spend, and flag risks early
- Lead on-site install and de-install, coordinating art handlers, technicians, and vendors in real time
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work directly with curators, artists, and gallery leadership to keep design and production aligned with curatorial intent as it evolves
- Liaise with external venues, art fairs, and brand partners on space allocation, technical requirements, and compliance
- Maintain a working archive of floor plans, vendor contacts, and production budgets to make future shows faster to plan
What We're Looking For
- 2–4 years of experience in exhibition design, production management, scenography, interior/spatial design, or a closely related field: gallery, museum, event production, or set design backgrounds all welcome
- Working proficiency in a design/drafting tool (AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Suite or similar)
- Demonstrated ability to manage vendors and budgets under real deadlines
- Comfortable doing physical, on-the-ground work
- An eye for how art and space talk to each other
- Based in or able to relocate to Delhi
Nice to have
- Prior experience working with artists or in a gallery/museum production context
- Familiarity with art handling and conservation-basic best practices
- An existing network of fabricators, carpenters, or lighting technicians in Delhi
To apply, send your CV and a short portfolio of spatial/production work to [HIDDEN TEXT].
