About YRGMERF
YRGMERF operates a fully functional Skills Building Centre at Salamangalam, near Padappai, where a variety of skills development activities are currently taking place. The centre collaborates with communities to deliver vocational and livelihood-focused training, empowering individuals to create sustainable futures. We are seeking a motivated and community-oriented Skills Building Officer to join the team and lead the centre's initiatives forward.
Role Summary
The Skills Building Officer will oversee the smooth delivery of training programmes, community outreach, stakeholder engagement, and team coordination at the Skills Building Centre. This is a practical role that demands excellent interpersonal skills, a dedication to community development, and the ability to handle both programme and administrative tasks.
Key Responsibilities
1. Training Coordination & Documentation
Ensure all training sessions are carried out according to the approved schedule. Keep precise training logs, attendance records, and regular progress reports. Report any deviations or delays to the reporting manager promptly.
2. Community Outreach & Participant Mobilisation
Plan and organise outreach meetings in neighbouring communities to identify, engage, and enrol prospective participants into the centre's training programmes. Develop locally relevant outreach strategies to maintain a steady flow of trainees.
3. Stakeholder & Community Engagement
Develop and sustain relationships with opinion leaders, local government representatives, community influencers, and other key stakeholders. Use these connections to secure support for the centre's activities and to foster a positive setting for programme delivery.
4. Team Management & Local Travel
Lead and oversee a small, efficient team at the centre. Offer daily guidance, clarify task allocation, and promote a collaborative work environment. Travel locally as needed for outreach, liaison, and programme-related activities.
- Education: Graduate or Master's degree in Social Work (BSW / MSW) from a recognised university.
- Language: Fluency in Tamil (spoken) is essential. Comfortable speaking in English and proficient in writing reports and documentation in English.
- Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work with diverse community groups. Basic proficiency in MS Office and digital documentation.
- Disposition: Self-motivated, community-oriented, and willing to travel locally. Comfortable working in a semi-urban/rural setting.
