Who Are We?
At HyPrix, we're building supersonic payload delivery systems for autonomy. Things flying faster than the speed of sound - we are enabling them with cheap hardware. Replicating the capabilities of expensive conventional frontline systems - we are building micro missiles and precision guidance kits for mass manufacturability in the 4 figure price range. Built for a war of attrition, build for the era of software defined warfare, built to cater to the front lines of battlefields - where no man should stand in the future. About the role
This role is both hands -on and strategic: you will design hardware solutions for extreme environments, and mentor and elevate our existing hardware engineers. We are looking for a highly experienced Senior Hardware Engineer to lead and drive the architecture, design, and implementation of hardware systems for our robotics/flight systems.
You will play a pivotal role in shaping how our hardware platform is designed, developed and tested, ensuring reliability from board -bring -up to mission execution, and driving best practices in system design, hardware resilience, manufacturability across the product lifecycle.
Core Responsibilities
1) System Architecture & Hardware Design
- Architect robust, scalable embedded hardware systems spanning sensing, computation, power management, actuation, and wireless communication subsystems.
- Define hardware module boundaries, interfaces, electrical specifications, and interaction contracts between boards and subsystems.
- Perform design trade -off analysis (performance, cost, power, reliability, EMI/EMC, manufacturability).
- Own system -level schematics, block diagrams, and interface definitions, and ensure alignment with firmware, controls, and mechanical teams.
- Build hardware architectures that scale across product variants and future revisions.
2) Hands -On Hardware Development
- Design and bring up custom PCBs (MCU/SoC -based boards, sensor boards, power boards, actuator drivers).
- Develop schematics and layouts involving:
- Digital interfaces: SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, Ethernet
- Analog front ends: IMUs, barometers, ADCs/DACs, power sensing
- Power systems: DC -DC converters, LDOs, battery management, protection circuits
- Wireless systems: GPS SoC Integration, Phased array antenna design, RF based telemetry system integration
- High -reliability connectors, ESD/EMI protection, and isolation where required
- Take boards from concept to bring -up:
- Requirement capture to understand what is needed from the hardware
- Design, analyze, simulate complex designs, and perform DFx checks
- Power sequencing, clocking, reset behaviour, boot configuration
- Debug board issues using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers
- Validate signal integrity, power integrity, and timing margins
- Support firmware teams during early bring -up with register -level debug, pin -muxing, and interface validation.
3) System -Level Validation & Reliability
- Define and execute hardware validation and verification plans:
- Electrical characterization
- Environmental, thermal, vibration, and stress testing
- EMI/EMC pre -compliance testing
- Establish manufacturing and test strategies:
- DFT/DFM considerations
- Board -level test points, boundary scan, and production test fixtures
- Own failure analysis, root -cause investigations, and corrective actions from lab through field deployments.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation: schematics, layout guidelines, test reports, BOMs, and revision histories.
4) Cross -Functional Collaboration
- Lead hardware design reviews, roadmap planning, and technical risk assessments.
- Work closely with:
- Firmware teams for bring -up, interface validation, and performance tuning
- Controls and systems teams to ensure sensors, compute, and actuation meet algorithmic requirements
- Mechanical teams for enclosure constraints, thermal design, connectors, and vibration robustness
- Manufacturing and operations teams for supplier selection, cost optimization, and scale -up
- Interface with external vendors and silicon partners for MCUs, sensors, RF modules, power components, and manufacturing houses.
- Mentor junior and mid -level hardware engineers in schematic design, layout best practices, debugging, and validation discipline.
Required Qualifications
- 6+ years of professional hardware engineering experience with a strong hands -on track record.
- Experience designing hardware for robotics, drones, flight control systems, or high -reliability embedded platforms.
- Natural mentorship, and the ability to work with existing junior hardware design engineers.
- Robust background in sensor integration, power electronics, and mixed -signal design.
- Proven experience taking custom hardware from first prototype through production.
- Familiarity with safety -critical or regulated environments (e.g., aerospace, automotive, defense).
- Knowledge of relevant standards such as IPC, EMI/EMC standards, DO -254, ISO 26262, or STANAG is a strong plus.
- Natural mentor with strong communication skills and ability to align cross -functional teams.
Should you really join us?
If you like learning, if you like figuring things out by yourself without others telling you how to do it - and thrive under work pressure to ship missiles - then this is for you. Join us to take ownership of your work. We are a lean team - there is no rule book to what we're doing. You have an end goal - which is based on a real product - and you need to get it done your own way. It's hard, and we all love it here.
