Job Summary: The Production Manager for the Sofa Unit is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the manufacturing process to ensure the efficient, high-quality, and timely production of our sofa products. This role requires a strong leader with extensive knowledge of furniture manufacturing, a focus on quality control, and the ability to manage a diverse team. The ideal candidate will be a problem-solver who can optimize production workflows, reduce waste, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

- Production Oversight:

- Plan, coordinate, and supervise all daily production activities within the sofa manufacturing unit, including frame building, cutting, sewing, upholstery, and final assembly.

- Develop and implement production schedules to meet customer demand and delivery deadlines.

- Monitor and control production processes to ensure products meet quality standards and specifications.

- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, equipment malfunctions, and material shortages.

- Team Management & Leadership:

- Lead, mentor, and train a team of production staff, including supervisors, skilled craftsmen, and assemblers.

- Conduct performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and foster a positive and collaborative work environment.

- Ensure all staff adhere to company policies, safety protocols, and quality standards.

- Manage staffing levels, including hiring, scheduling, and overtime as needed.

- Quality & Process Improvement:

- Implement and maintain robust quality control procedures at every stage of the production process.

- Analyze production data and metrics to identify areas for improvement in efficiency, cost reduction, and waste elimination.





- Champion lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., 5S, Kaizen).

- Work closely with the design and R&D; teams to ensure new products are manufacturable and meet quality targets.

- Inventory & Materials Management:

- Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure timely availability of raw materials (wood, foam, fabric, springs, etc.).

- Oversee inventory levels of raw materials and finished goods to prevent shortages or excess stock.

- Minimize material waste and manage scrap rates effectively.

- Safety & Compliance:

- Ensure a safe working environment by enforcing all company safety policies and procedures.

- Conduct regular safety meetings and inspections.

- Maintain compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal regulations.

Requirements

- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field preferred. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

- Experience:

- Minimum of [e.g., 5-7] years of experience in a production management role, preferably within the furniture or upholstery manufacturing industry.

- Proven experience managing a team of [e.g., 20+] employees.

- Strong technical knowledge of the sofa manufacturing process, including wood framing, cutting, sewing, and upholstery techniques.
