Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Machinist cum Welder with proven expertise in heavy duty conventional lathe operations and shop -floor welding processes. This role is critical to ensuring precision machining and high -quality fabrication across production cycles. The ideal candidate will demonstrate technical proficiency, a strong commitment to safety and quality, and the ability to adapt to dynamic production demands. You will play a key role in transforming raw materials into finished components, supporting both machining and welding workflows with accuracy, efficiency, and compliance to engineering standards.
Responsibilities:
- Operate heavy duty conventional lathe machines independently and efficiently.
- Perform a range of machining operations including turning, facing, boring, threading, grooving, and taper turning.
- Interpret engineering drawings and job specifications to guide setup and execution.
- Select optimal cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and depth of cut for each task.
- Maintain strict dimensional accuracy, tolerances, and surface finish standards.
- Safely handle large and heavy components using lifting tools and cranes.
- Conduct routine machine maintenance, lubrication, and daily operational checks.
- Perform arc welding, gas welding, and MIG welding as required by job specifications.
- Carry out repair welding, tack welding, and fabrication support tasks.
- Ensure adequate weld penetration, alignment, and finish quality.
- Strictly follow welding safety procedures and quality standards.
- Adhere to shop -floor safety norms and consistently use required PPE.
- Inspect completed parts using precision measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Identify and report quality deviations or machine malfunctions promptly.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and 5S workplace organization.
- Meet daily production targets with minimal rework or rejection rates.
- Collaborate effectively with supervisors, fitters, and quality assurance teams.
- Be available for overtime and shift work during peak production periods.
