Role Overview

We are looking for a Lead Engineer who will play a key role in designing, building, and scaling Fold Health’s healthcare platform. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on technologist with strong leadership skills, capable of guiding engineering teams, setting best practices, and driving the delivery of high-quality, scalable solutions.

Responsibilities

1. Technical Leadership
- Lead design and architecture discussions for scalable, secure, and resilient systems.

- Define and enforce coding standards, best practices, and technical guidelines.

- Mentor and coach engineers, fostering a culture of learning and innovation.

- Product Development

- Collaborate with product managers, architects, and cross-functional teams to build and deliver end-to-end features.

- Drive the development of backend microservices, APIs, and frontend applications.

- Ensure HIPAA and other healthcare compliance in all technology solutions.

- Innovation & Strategy

- Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies (AI/ML, healthcare data standards, cloud-native).

- Contribute to roadmap planning and provide input on technical feasibility and effort estimation.

- Lead proof-of-concept (POC) initiatives for new product features and integrations.

- Quality & Performance

- Ensure performance, scalability, and reliability of applications across web and mobile platforms.

- Oversee CI/CD pipelines, automated testing,



and code review processes.

- Monitor and optimize application and infrastructure performance.

Requirements

Requirements

- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

- 10–15 years of hands-on engineering experience, with at least 3+ years in a lead/architect role.

- Strong expertise in Node.js (NestJS), ReactJS, React Native, Python (preferred), and TypeScript.

- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) and containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).

- Solid knowledge of PostgreSQL, data pipelines, and healthcare data (EHR, claims, ADT, FHIR standards).

- Familiarity with AI/ML integration and building data-driven applications.

- Experience with HIPAA, security best practices, and compliance in healthcare systems.

- Solid problem-solving, system design, and communication skills.

- Proven track record of mentoring teams and delivering complex products in a startup or fast-paced environment.

Good to Have

- Experience with healthcare integrations (Elation, Athena, eCW, HIE, claims pipelines).

- Familiarity with Twilio – Programable SMS and Voice calls, Mailgun - emails, wearable data APIs.

- Exposure to BI/reporting tools (PowerBI, BigQuery).

- Prior experience in Value-Based Care (VBC) programs or healthcare startups.
