Key Responsibilities:

• Write and optimize PL/SQL stored procedures for Sybase IQ and convert them into T-SQL stored procedures for SQL Server, ensuring that they function optimally in the new environment.

• Troubleshoot and debug complex PL/SQL and T-SQL stored procedures, resolving any issues that arise during migration and ensuring that the logic is correctly adapted to SQL Server.

• Perform the migration of data from Sybase IQ to SQL Server, ensuring data integrity, consistency, and performance during the transfer process.

• Assist in optimizing SQL Server performance post-migration by implementing strategies like indexing, partitioning, and query optimization for the migrated databases.

• Collaborate with senior engineers and database administrators to address migration-related challenges, focusing on data accuracy, integrity, and performance during the migration process.

• Analyze Sybase IQ stored procedures and database objects to identify potential performance bottlenecks and ensure smooth migration to SQL Server.

• Participate in data migration testing, including stress testing, performance validation, and data integrity checks to ensure the database functions as expected in SQL Server.

• Provide support in the optimization of the SQL Server environment, ensuring that the setup meets the scalability and performance requirements for migrated databases.

• Document the migration process, including the steps involved in adapting PL/SQL to T-SQL, lessons learned, and best practices for future migrations.





• Utilize BCP OUT and BCP IN for effective data transfer between Sybase IQ and SQL Server, ensuring large datasets are moved quickly and accurately.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

• 3+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering or database development, with a focus on PL/SQL and T-SQL.

• Proven experience in migrating PL/SQL stored procedures from Sybase IQ to T-SQL stored procedures in SQL Server.

• Strong understanding of SQL Server, including experience with query optimization, indexing, partitioning, and performance tuning.

• Hands-on experience with Sybase IQ databases, including the migration of tables, views, functions, and stored procedures to SQL Server.

• Familiarity with migration tools and the data migration process, ensuring smooth transitions between database systems.

• Strong troubleshooting skills, particularly in the context of stored procedures, data integrity, and performance issues during migration.

• Good collaboration and communication skills, working effectively with both senior engineers and cross-functional teams to resolve migration challenges.

Preferred Skills:

• Familiarity with cloud databases (e.g., Azure SQL Server, AWS RDS, or other cloud platforms).

• Experience with data security, backup strategies, and disaster recovery in SQL Server environments.

• Experience using performance profiling tools and database monitoring to ensure the migrated databases perform optimally.

Good to have: Experience with Full Convert or other similar migration tools.
