About the Role:
We are actively seeking an experienced and dedicated Consultant – CTVS (Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgeon) to join a leading multi-specialty hospital in Mangalore. The ideal candidate will be a highly skilled surgical professional with sound clinical judgment and a commitment to providing exceptional cardiovascular and thoracic surgical care. This is a full-time, on-site role requiring hands-on expertise in a hospital setup with complex surgical cases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform complex cardiovascular, thoracic, and vascular surgeries including coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), valve repair/replacement, aneurysm repair, and congenital cardiac procedures.
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative care for patients undergoing CTVS procedures.
- Collaborate with cardiologists, anesthesiologists, intensivists, and other medical professionals to determine appropriate treatment plans and manage patient care throughout the surgical process.
- Diagnose and treat diseases affecting the heart, lungs, esophagus, and other organs in the chest.
- Handle emergency procedures, including trauma and acute vascular events, when necessary.
- Monitor and ensure high standards of surgical safety, infection control, and postoperative care.
- Supervise and mentor junior doctors, surgical residents, and other medical staff in the cardiothoracic unit.
- Participate actively in hospital-based clinical discussions, audits, and continuous medical education.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with hospital protocols and medical ethics.
- Engage in patient education, addressing concerns and discussing surgical risks, benefits, and long-term outcomes with patients and their families.
Candidate Profile:
- Must possess an MCh in Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery (CVTS) or an equivalent superspeciality qualification in CTVS.
- Minimum of 1 year of independent surgical experience post-MCh in a reputed hospital.
- Proficiency in handling both elective and emergency CTVS procedures.
- Solid understanding of intensive care and management of patients in critical cardiac and thoracic conditions.
- Ability to handle a wide range of cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgeries.
- Excellent decision-making capabilities, patient communication, and team coordination skills.
- Willingness to contribute to hospital development activities, research, and quality assurance programs.
