We are seeking an experienced Payroll professional to manage end-to-end India payroll operations and ensure full statutory and employment compliance. This role requires solid hands-on expertise in payroll execution, regulatory adherence, audits, and stakeholder coordination, along with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and execute end-to-end payroll processing for employees across India
- Ensure accurate and timely disbursement of salaries, wages, incentives, and benefits in line with statutory requirements and internal policies
- Coordinate with HR, finance, and other stakeholders to capture payroll inputs including new hires, exits, promotions, and compensation changes
- Prepare, validate, and file statutory payroll reports and returns including tax, PF, ESI, PT, LWF, and other applicable compliances
- Stay updated on changes in payroll laws, taxation, and labor regulations across Indian states and implement necessary process updates
- Address payroll-related queries and resolve discrepancies in a timely and professional manner
- Liaise with external payroll vendors, auditors, tax consultants, and legal advisors to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Maintain complete payroll documentation, records, and confidentiality in line with data protection and company policies
- Support payroll audits, compliance reviews, and due diligence activities by preparing and maintaining accurate records
- Own employment-related compliance and statutory reporting obligations
- Contribute to organizational culture initiatives and ensure payroll practices align with internal policies and values
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
- 4+ years of hands-on experience managing India payroll operations
- Strong understanding of Indian payroll regulations, taxation, and statutory compliances across multiple states
- Experience working in startup or high-growth environments is an advantage
- Proficiency with payroll systems such as Keka, Darwinbox, Greytip, or similar platforms
- Advanced working knowledge of MS Excel for payroll analysis and reporting
- High attention to detail with strong analytical and data-handling skills
- Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving abilities
