We are looking for a talented Senior Database Administration Engineer for the R&D; Engineering function of Medtronic Engineering and Innovation Center R&D; facility for our Cardiac Rhythm and Heart Failure (CRHF) Software division. This individual will serve as a data warehouse administrator supporting the Data Management team. The SQL Server data warehouse administrator will work with other engineers, developers and database administration personnel in the organization to develop code to support the data management team and execute on the designs established by the Data Management Lead.
A Day in the Life

- Implement the physical database workplace, business and presentation layers
- Monitor and maintain database backups and recovery procedures
- Manage database maintenance, implementing optimal strategies for indexing, statistics, and database integrity
- Maintain SQL Serve r versioning through management of patches and upgrades
- Plan for and allocate the SQL Server system's physical requirements, such as memory, disk space and CPU
- Manage user profiles, ensuring system security by careful allocation of user permissions
- Utilize monitoring and alerting tools to identify SQL Server Performance & Resource Issues
- Develop necessary code to support the advancement of the data warehouse
- Conduct design and code reviews to ensure code developed meets or exceeds coding best practices guidelines, unit testing, security, and scalability and maintainability guidelines
- Identify and drive continuous software development process improvement initiatives




- Meet or exceed all project schedule milestones, cost and quality objectives

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

- B.E or B.Tech in Computer Sciences, Electronics or Electrical Engineer or higher
- 8+ years of database administration experience.

Must Have Experience

- Strong experience in VSTS/TFS/Azure DevOps, Microsoft SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS, Visual Studio
- Strong experience in managing Data Warehouses
- Strong experience in creating and maintaining stored procedures for SQL Server
- Experience with Data Governance, Master Data Management, and metadata management
- Experience migrating databases to newer releases
- Knowledge of diverse database architectures
- Knowledge in database and information modelling (ER, Dimensional, physical, logical, hierarchical, semantic, etc.)
- Knowledge in database and schema design and translation to implementation
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Proficiency working in a team environment

Nice to Haves

- C#, .NET, MSTest, NUnit (or similar)
- Experience working in software product development, from design inputs through execution of the appropriate verification and validation tests
- Experience with or knowledge of the Agile development paradigm
- Experience working in a regulated industry
- Experience with healthcare data domain
- Medtronic device knowledge desirable
- Experience working in a dynamic environment

Principal Working Relationship

- Reports to the Engineering Supervisor/Engineering Manager
- Accountable to Principal or Senior Software Engineer(s) and/or Project Manager(s) for project-related responsibilities
- The Engineer frequently interacts with Senior Developer, Tech Lead, other developers, V&V; engineers, internal partners and stakeholders concerning estimations, design, implementation or requirement clarifications, works closely with global sites.
- Communicates primarily with internal contacts within immediate group. Contacts others to gather, confirm and convey information
