Role Summary/Purpose
Based at GE Power Conversion Chennai site the Services Specialist's role is an exciting opportunity for an action-oriented individual with deep technical foundation of Power Conversion equipment. You will be able to leverage your technical knowledge to directly support customer through commissioning, maintaining, servicing of Power Conversion's state of the art products and solutions across the globe, while you collaborate across the globe with key functional teams and enhance your strategic business acumen. Essential Responsibilities
All activities related to the testing and validation of an equipment, facility or plant in accordance to the design objectives or specifications for operational use. Includes Performance Services, Performance tests. Major contribution to the development of an operational year plan for own department activities of the team. Suggests improvements in products, processes and procedures. Works together with people from the business unit. Contacts are under guidance and/or geared towards specifying activities, planning of activities and giving explanations on technical issues. Targeted clients. Works based on predefined contracts and frameworks. Some latitude to deviate from those conditions.

- Commissioning of PLC/SCADA/HMI Programming & Commissioning Control Systems in CRM/ HSM Metals, Marine, Mining, or Oil and gas plant




- Scheduling and coordinating work to tight deadlines
- Creating and carrying out test procedures
- Ensuring site safety norms
- Coordinating with installation / Project engineers / Project Managers.
- Provide technical instruction and assistance to customer representatives regarding installation, operation, calibration, repair, and maintenance at customer's sites
- Site report preparation, planning and execution
- Needs to work closely with the global project team.
- Investigating technical problems, diagnosing/repairing faults
- Troubleshooting
- Service support

Qualifications/Requirements

- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college
- B.E / M.E or equivalent / Electrical/Electronic engineering - Minimum 3 years' experience
- DEEE- Minimum 5 years' experience
- Should have process knowledge of Metal / Marine / Oil & Gas / Test Bench / Material Handling / Power Plant.
- Independent performance trials experience for the process plant
- PLC, Scada, HMI Interfacing and Automation
- Communication network skills - Profibus/Modbus/Ethernet
- Standard of Software for Rolling Mills - Hot (HSM, Plate Mill, etc.), Cold Mill Area (RCM, CSM, PLTCM etc.), Schendzimer Mill and HMI Projects.
- Operational & process skills in the Metal / Marine / oil and gas domain
- Work independently. Strong problem-solving skills.

- In-depth knowledge about Industrial Automation Communication Networks (Field level and Supervisory level) like Serial IO,



EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT, MODBUS TCP, PROFIBUS DP, PROFINET, DeviceNet, CANopen, Modbus RTU, Interbus, OPC UA.
- In-depth knowledge and experience in IEC 61131 PLC Programming Languages (LD,FBD, SFC, STL, IL). Working knowledge on interfaces IEC61850 are added advantage.
- Process experience in Metals Rolling Mills/Processing Lines. Hot commissioning and Plant stabilization.
- Hands on Experience on Hydraulics control, Speed Control, Gap Control, Tracking Control, PID Tuning are added advantage. Working experience of closed loop control system
- Solid business insight - Industrial Automation domain, Customer Applications knowledge in different industry verticals.
- Start-up, I/O check, and Cold commissioning at site.
- During cold trails checking all function needs and safety functions.
- Co-ordination with commissioning leader and between various groups on site like Mechanical, SDE, Customer, Engineering, and team members for faster and smoother commissioning.
- Partly responsible for getting list of open points completed and obtain commissioning certificate, PG & FAC from Customer.
- Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Ability towork independently. Strong problem-solving skills.
