Purpose of the role

Working in a 24X7X365 support environment The role of a Technical WAN Operations Engineer Level 2 is to interpret a customer requests/issues and then transform them into a successful resolution/deployment. A successful resolution/deployment is one that meets the customer’s requirements, is delivered on time, and has a positive impact on the business of BT.

Responsibility

- 4-7 years’ experience providing network operations support. Have knowledge of Network monitoring, Remote administration, configuration, trouble shooting, deployment, IP Schema, IP Protocol,



implementation and support of IP addresses, routing, network filters, and any other applicable operational Configuration parameters for all managed Network devices.
Troubleshoot/Diagnose all Level 1/2 issues from the customers and driving satisfactory resolution of the issues. Knowledge of Networking: OSI Layer, (Spanning tree, vPC, Ether Channel, VLAN, etc.), switching /routing (OSPF, BGP, IPv4/6), DNS/DHCP, network virtualization ( VRF), Firewall Contexts, basics of higher layer protocols: SSL/TLS, concepts of NAT, PAT etc.
Troubleshooting of SDWAN and awareness of Architecture/Design of at least ONE SDWAN Solution, preferably, Cisco.
Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including wireless access points, firewall, routers, switches, controllers.
Needs to maintain close relations with third parties, vendors, Guide and mentor junior engineers to be able to monitor progress of reported problems, known caveats, newly available features, software upgrades and hardware products. This to be able to foresee possible conflicts and improvements to operational services.
Work closely with clients for Recent Projects on Technical requirements/break-fix to provide technical solutions/resolutions.
Provide Post Incident Reviews and Root Cause Analysis for Problem tickets.
Change Management – Raising Changes and Implementing.




• Proactive and reactive analysis including remediation of performance issues

• Track remediation progress or causes for delay

• Manage vendors and their support SLA.

Qualification and Skills

Qualifications:
• College degree or equivalent Technical Training.
• 5-7 years of related work experience.

Skills/Experience:
Must have hands-on experience on protocols such as BGP, OSPF, L3VPN, L2VPN, Multicast, DHCP, DNS, NAT, BFD, Application-aware Routing & QoS.
Experience in SDWAN and aware of Architecture/Design of at least ONE SDWAN Solution, preferably, Cisco, Versa, Velocloud SDWAN.
Awareness of documentation HLD, LLD.
Ability to jump in to support with hands-on configuration when needed
Experience interacting with senior level/executives to communicate a message of network and security transformation.
Good Communication skills.
Current Cisco certifications like CCNA Collaboration, CCNP data preferred.
Should have basic knowledge on ITIL based ticketing system.
Work in a 24X7X365 environment, Participate in maintenance activities and On- Call Support.
