Role description:
What are we looking for
Off the back of major project wins and growing pipeline of work in our Power Systems team, Arcadis is seeking suitable applicants for either a Senior or Principal Engineer, to cover a broad range of Australian projects in the aspects of HV power systems in our Manila Team. Your role will include:

- Preparing and reviewing complex reports, proposals and presentations with the Brisbane Team in the following areas:
- HV power systems analysis - load flow, fault levels, dynamic performance, transient analysis, harmonics assessments, induction studies, insulation coordination studies
- HV transmission and distribution substations primary electrical design: layout design, specification of plant, coordination of civil design
- HV transmission and distribution protection systems analysis and design: schematic design, IED specification / configuration, determination of protection settings, investigation of protection events
- Earthing system analysis and design

- Taking personal responsibility for the preparation of detailed engineering documentation and leading the engineering effort for project including providing technical and performance oversight for members of the power systems team.
- To take on a key role within the sector/discipline, winning work, providing leadership, technical advice and leading by example, where appropriate.
- To manage selected projects, design teams and/or design processes (or parts of projects) to meet agreed budget, quality and timeframe targets.
- To deliver fully documented designs to meet client objectives and Arcadis system requirements.
- To develop the technical competency of direct reports and ensure application of international standards and engineering knowledge in various projects.
- To contribute towards the achievement of the sector/discipline business plan.
- To build and consolidate networks within the industry.

To promote and market all facets of Arcadis services during interfaces with clients, other sectors/disciplines and externally at seminars and conferences
Role accountabilities:
Technical Responsibilities:

- Apply technical engineering techniques and methods using international design standards such as Australia, UK, US, and Middle East Electrical Design Codes.
- Prepare drawing mark-ups and other design related documents.
- Oversee/prepare the project's detailed design and calculations.
- Supervise the design and drawing preparation processes.
- Ensure design resources are working effectively and efficiently.




- Conduct internal review and quality checks of engineering drawings and design calculations to ensure compliance with the project's requirements.
- Liaise with other disciplines within the Energy and Resources Project Team for coordination and ensure all requirements are understood.
- Prepare and register all relevant documentation and design reports and ensure all documentation is accurate and in compliance with the Arcadis requirements.
- Regularly liaise with the PE, Design Managers and Associate Technical Director to keep informed of all developments or changes associated with the project.
- Identify risks and potential deviations to the project's required scope of work.
- Ensure compliance with scope of works, time schedule and cost control.
- Deliver technically complete design documentation, summary reports and technical reports for Design Managers.

Commercial Responsibilities:

- Provide input into the sector strategy/business plans, as required, and contributing towards its achievement.
- Proactively manage selected projects (or components of projects), take responsibility for resource allocation, manage subcontractors, manage the production of analysis and design (including drawings and reports), ensure the integrity of the overall design (in collaboration with other design disciplines), quality assurance and client feedback.
- Identify opportunities and driving implementation of re-engineering strategies to maximise the profitability of design components.
- Gain a good understanding of the background of the client's business and industry to facilitate building effective and enduring relationships and consolidate both company and personal credibility in the industry.
- Ensure all SE/DE/AE/GE supporting him/her are fully utilized.
- Self time-management

People Management Responsibilities:

- Resource and develop skills and knowledge base of Design, Assistant and Graduate Engineers assigned to projects.
- Familiarize the CIBSE Training and Development Scheme and render mentoring duties to all Design, Assistant, and Graduate Engineers based on the CIBSE Competence Criteria.
- Liaise with Design Managers, BIM Managers and BIM Team Leader assigned to projects.
- Provide leadership, direction and technical advice to project team members, take a proactive role in developing team members to their full potential, lead by example to achieve sector/divisional goals and champion a quality, innovative and entrepreneurial culture.
- Assist the management to communicate with team members to ensure that they understand and become engaged with sector/discipline business plans.
- Self time-management

Other Responsibilities:

- Liaise with Arcadis lead offices representatives and other consultants as appropriate to the project.
- Working to achieve project delivery on time to budget and to a high standard in accordance with Client expectations.
- Take responsibility for defined tasks within prescribed limits.
- Gain experience and proficiency in Arcadis systems and procedures.
- Become familiar and compliant with Health and Safety regulations and guidelines.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time by your line manager.

Qualifications & Experience:

- At least 8 years' experience as a power systems engineer, with at least 5 years as an engineering leader with industry recognition of capability in the role
- Consulting experience in power projects in Australia, UK, Middle East and Philippines.
- Experience in the production of CAD documentation to Australian Utility Standards and other international design standards.




- Experience in utility processes from concept stage to construction and as-built drawings will also be beneficial
- Graduate of Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from recognized University
- Belong to the top 20% of the engineering class.
- Licensed Registered Electrical Engineer (REE).
- Working towards Chartered Engineer status.
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills including a working knowledge of MS Office.
- Excellent mathematical skills applied in engineering calculations.
- Ability to lead, with good influencing, motivating and delegating skills.
- Organizational skills and proactive approach in project management.
- Actively continue to develop personally and technical knowledge and emerging technology through regular CPD training.

Highly regarded skills include:
- The ability to develop complex models in PSSE, ETAP, SKM PTW power systems software
- The ability to develop cable system / transient voltage studies - ATP, EMTP-RV
- The ability to develop cable thermal rating studies and design - CYMCAP
- The ability to develop complex earthing and induction models in CDEGS earthing system software
- The ability to develop maintenance strategies and procedures, commissioning plans and documentation
- Specifying or interfacing with control systems in an HV substations environment
- Modelling of connection of significant loads and generators into existing networks and advising on connection agreements
- At least 2 years' experience in design & drafting electrical infrastructure in Australia, general familiarity with the electricity supply industry, electricity transmission and distribution practices and related topics
- Have knowledge of drafting and BIM, how to define BIM outcomes, BIM processes, how to coordinate a BIM project within the 3D environment and how to apply design to the models they produce
- Drafting standards experience and knowledge and application of functions within CAD.
- Computational design, design algorithms and automation of data manipulation.
