About the Role:
This is a senior management position with direct oversight over the Tax Ops within CIB at Bangalore. This individual will lead the Tax Form Validations team as part of firm wide Data Management. It is a center of excellence providing validation process on Tax Form (W8/W9), updating relevant client account details navigating between multiple systems inclusive of market data vendors, process qualitative reports on data integrity. Also support federal reporting and withholding requirements. This role will help the team handle the changing regulatory environment and the complexities on capital market products within the Internal Revenue Service ('IRS') Chapter 3, Chapter 4 and Chapter 61 reporting and withholding regimes along with applicable state and international tax regulations. Acting as a lead for all escalations, operations, business and regulatory initiatives this leader will face-off to global business, operations, compliance, and legal counterparts to ensure effective transparency and partnership. This person will also be responsible for implementation of the Shared Services strategy plan across the organization, including control framework, risk review and budgeting for the division.
Responsibilities:
- Handling tax documentation, withholding, and reporting inquiries raised by business partners
- Daily TEFRA, NRA and FATCA withholding reconciliation and remittance
- Research and resolution of reporting and withholding exceptions
- 1099 and 1042-S reporting tasks such as mock form reviews, management of trial runs and processing of tax reporting adjustments
- Cost Basis reconciliation and resolution
- Manage multiple teams led by the manager to ensure successful service delivery to various stakeholders across the globe.
- To ensure that BAU is processed as per SLAs.
- Manage End to End Service Delivery and drive Quality as a differentiating factor about Process Excellence.
- To be proactive in identifying process and knowledge gaps, and effectively manage escalations.
- Work very closely with Delivery teams on TAT Management, Process Improvements, Regulatory Compliance, Audits- Process/Transactional Level and adherence to SLAs.
- Workforce mgt., scheduling & rostering and leave planning.
- Provide Monthly Performance Metrics.
- Develop & maintain a world class and productive team Ensure strong focus on short- and long-term objectives, training, succession planning, career development, and managing career opportunities
- Performance Mgt., conduct appraisals, complete action plans for people development.
- Ensure Learning Initiatives, Adherence to discipline, punctuality & compliance by the team & Attrition Management.
- Ensure operational practices complies with relevant risk standards, policies, and regulations to maintain an effective control environment Responsible for Business Continuity, Breaches/Incidents and Quality Assurance
- Ensure BCP strategy is in place for the team.
- Should display an appreciation of control, quality and risk related issues. Ensure team follows existent controls.
- Identifying and formulating procedural changes which will enhance operational efficiency and data integrity
- Providing leadership on issues raised by the areas we support while communicating ways to improve data quality and client service
- Partnering with upstream processing teams such as corporate actions and middle office to identify the root cause of issues and mitigate operational risk
Essential Qualifications:
- MBA or an advanced degree (or equivalent exp.).
- 14+ years with a top-tier bank, including 7 yrs. in a supervisory role and motivating and leading large teams.
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to establish credibility and strong partnership with business partners and other support functions.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with demonstrated ability to manage expectations and deliver on commitments.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience of working across one or more geographic territories or regions.
- Project management skills with a focus on process improvement and change management experience with UAT testing and vendor management tMust be a great team player with a high degree of flexibility, prepared to work in a deadline-driven and fast-paced environment.
- Excellent presentation skills, effective written and verbal communication skills, should be comfortable dealing with senior management.
- Experience working with senior leaders straddling across Technology, Operations and Strategy a plus
