Role & responsibilities

- Lead the design and implementation of high-performance PostgreSQL database architectures.
- Define standards for schema design, indexing strategy, data partitioning, sharding, and storage optimization.

Provide technical guidance for database scalability, capacity planning, and data growth strategy

- Install, configure, patch, and maintain PostgreSQL instances across production and non-production environments.
- Set up and manage replication architectures (streaming, logical, cascading, synchronous/asynchronous).
- Implement and manage robust backup and disaster recovery strategies using pgBackRest, Barman, or enterprise tools.
- Ensure database security, compliance, auditing, and encryption best practices.
- Lead deepdive analysis of performance issues using EXPLAIN/ANALYZE, pg_stat views, autovacuum tuning, and indexing improvements.
- Investigate and resolve locking issues, deadlocks,



replication lag, and query bottlenecks.
- Drive proactive database health checks and optimization strategies.

Preferred candidate profile

- 610 years of solid hands-on experience as a PostgreSQL DBA in production environments.
- Strong expertise in PostgreSQL internals, architecture, WAL, MVCC, autovacuum, and checkpoint tuning.
- Deep knowledge of performance tuning, index optimization, and query execution plans.
- Proven experience with HA/DR solutions, replication topologies, and failover strategies.
- Solid command of Linux administration (RHEL/Ubuntu).
- Excellent scripting in Shell, Python, or Bash.
- Knowledge of security practices, SSL/TLS, IAM, roles/privileges, and encryption mechanisms.
