Process Operations

- Ensure secure and stable operation of the Zinc Smelter plant during the shift.
- Monitor and control process parameters through DCS/PLC and field inspections.
- Maintain optimum operating conditions in Roaster, Leaching, Purification, Electrolysis, Melting & Casting sections.
- Analyse process deviations and take immediate corrective actions.
- Achieve production targets while maintaining metal recovery and product quality.
- Minimise process losses, downtime, and energy consumption.

Shift Management

- Lead and supervise operators, technicians, and field staff.
- Conduct shift handover/takeover effectively.
- Ensure proper manpower deployment and work allocation.
- Coordinate with Maintenance, Electrical, Instrumentation, Laboratory, and Utility departments.

Safety & Compliance

- Ensure compliance with HZL Life Saving Rules, SOPs, Work Permit System, and LOTO procedures.
- Conduct Toolbox Talks before critical jobs.
- Ensure proper PPE usage and housekeeping.
- Report incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions immediately.
- Ensure compliance with ISO, EMS, and statutory requirements.

Process Monitoring & Troubleshooting





- Monitor key parameters such as:
- Temperature
- Pressure
- Flow
- Density
- pH
- Current efficiency
- Cell voltage
- Zinc purity

- Perform root cause analysis for process abnormalities.
- Support plant startup, shutdown, and emergency handling.

Documentation

- Maintain shift logbook and production reports.
- Record process deviations and corrective actions.
- Prepare daily production and shift reports.
- Ensure accurate recording of operational data.

Continuous Improvement

- Identify opportunities for productivity improvement.
- Reduce specific power and reagent consumption.
- Participate in Kaizen, TPM, 5S, and operational excellence initiatives.

Education

- B.E./B.Tech in Chemical Engineering (Preferred)
- Diploma in Chemical Engineering with relevant experience may also be considered.

Experience

- 38 years in Zinc Smelter, Non-Ferrous Metal, Chemical, Fertilizer, Refinery, or Continuous Process Industry.

Experience in DCS-based continuous process operations preferred.
